Going to Disney while mourning a loved one

I think she'd want me to go, she would want me to try to have fun. She was always battling illness and always encouraged me no matter how she was feeling. I will absolutely be celebrating her, I'm trying to do that in everything I do. Celebrate her and make her proud because she was my rock...

Going to Disney while mourning a loved one

@Magenta Panther A friend is coming with me for the first weekend of the trip and my cousin will be spending the last 2-3 days of the trip with me, in the middle I have some other friends and family who are going to be in the area and we are planning to meet up, just not sure when.

Going to Disney while mourning a loved one

Thanks again guys, I appreciate the thoughts @Tom P. I don't really know if I'll be ready or not. I'm really not sure whether I'll have any clue until I get there and see how I feel. I'll be driving and if I need to leave because it's too much I will. WDW has always been my refuge, but like you...

Going to Disney while mourning a loved one

Thank you so much for the tips guys. @bgraham34 I never even thought of the tours, I think because I have had tunnel vision on the F&W Fest for the October trip. @Kate Alan thanks for the tip on crying on the rides, I know it will happen entering Epcot/MK or on the Muppets or Toy Story or one...

Going to Disney while mourning a loved one

Essentially what I was told from other people and counselors is I need to get through things and acknowledge the loss as I can't avoid everything and complete avoidance can cause other issues. Also, WDW has always been a place of comfort for me when I am feeling down, we'll see if it still is...

Going to Disney while mourning a loved one

My wife and I had a 10 night trip planned for food and wine festival this year; however, she passed away recently, very unexpectedly. We got married in WDW and vacationed down there for her birthday almost every year since we have been together. I had another post planning our trip in the trip...

    What's people's average spending money

I plan about $50-$100 per person per day based on when we go and what we're doing. For instance when we go during food and Wine, we will be there 10 days, we have 4 ADRs, we'll probably have 4-6 prepaid F&W events/meals so we already know where most of our money will go. To be honest I...

    Current Opinions on Photopass Quality

I love memory maker. I've said before in other post, I thought it was a waste of money. Then, we got it, I like Ride photos, my wife likes to stop for photos around the park, and I hate carrying around extra stuff or digging around for a camera, plus I was rarely in pictures. Now that we get...

DVC trip to Aulani and Grand Californian

Yeah I see now there is a direct redeye to ATL on the way back on the same Airbus 330-300. That's awesome, for some reason I did not find that flight the first time we flew out there. Still, I think with the amount of time lost due to timezones, we'll still probably go the route of staying a...

DVC trip to Aulani and Grand Californian

Thanks for the input guys, as far as our Oahu plans, we enjoyed Aulani so much last time that we didn't see anywhere near the island that we wanted to. We visited Iolani Palace, took a dinner cruise past Diamondhead, drove around some different areas of Honolulu like China Town and stuff to...

    Tea at Grand Floridian

Me and my wife went last year. We found the sandwiches a little on the nasty side. I don't like Onions or Water Cress so like 3 of the sandwiches were just not my style. My wife got them to substitute with the kids PB&J for her, but the tea was terrific, I'm a huge Tea drinker, and the second...

    Vote - Favourite Deluxe Resort

For years, Poly was my absolute favorite resort and I never wanted to or had any need to stay at Grand Floridian. Now it's tough to stay anywhere else besides the GF. At least from VGF you have easy access to the spa, GF and Poly restaurants/pools, quick trip to MK, great views of MK for...

DVC trip to Aulani and Grand Californian

This may be better for the Trip planning area, but it's really DVC-centric and I wanted to get some opinions. Next December (2016) we plan to spend 10 nights at a 1 bedroom at Aulani followed by 3 nights in a Studio at the Grand Californian. The plane flight home wiped us out a couple years...

Resort Location - Important Factor or Not?

Well since I never mentioned or have stayed at Wilderness Lodge that doesn't mean much to me. I should have said I like resorts where you can take transportation other than bus to multiple resorts. I call out AKL because Kidani is a longer ride than WL and that is where I stayed, there is...

Resort Location - Important Factor or Not?

Location for which park we're near isn't important to us, but avoiding long bus rides like at AKL and having boat or monorail transportation or being able to walk to parks is important. We just find the trip more relaxing that way and for whatever reason we find the busses to be extremely tiring.

    Planning vs Planning

I map out a park schedule for all the parks about a week before fastpasses. I then put our ADRs on the schedule, so I'll know what park we're most likely to be in. Finally, I'll figure out what days are open and try to put any tough to get fastpasses on those days. I'm not quite there for...
