What to expect for Christmas/New Year?

I'd like to try to stay excited about this. I got really depressed about everything I read yesterday; but I've never seen the Christmas decor and it's important to me!

    Christmas Eve Dining at Epcot?

I'm reading that there are extra feasts at Epcot for Christmas, but what I'm not reading is whether you need to use reservations/dining plan for it. Can anyone clarify? For example, I'm sure my husband would be interested in the Caribbean Three Kings Feast at the World Showcase Plaza and I'd...

What to expect for Christmas/New Year?

I'd like to ask your experiences for Christmas and New Year's Eve at Disney. Is the fireworks show at Epcot better and/or longer than the one at MK? Compared to summer, what are the Christmas / New Year crowds like? Is there a place other than Downtown Disney to meet Santa and Goofy Santa? This...

    Water Parks in "winter?"

Are the Water Parks open during winter months (specifically the last week of Dec)? Is it hot enough to attend (say, the last week of December)? I've read that it's a "warm" 75f during December. But does that mean it's hot enough for water? What say you? Thanks much!

    Holidays 2017

How HOT is it the last week of December? We are debating whether we should upgrade out tickets to include the Water Parks, but I'm not sure it would be hot enough. Are the Water Parks even open at that time? Thanks!

    Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

I have a question: I just read that the Very Merry Christmas "stuff" will run until December 22. We check in on December 23. Are we going to miss out on ALL the Christmas things?!! What will they still be running from Dec 23 to Jan 02?

WDWMAGIC Takes the Cake - The Official Cake Talk

What is the reason that cakes can no longer be ordered to the Magic Kingdom? I'm not finding a reason for this. It is quite disappointing since I'll be there for my next birthday and had every intention of getting a cake to Cinderella's Table.

Free Dining - how often do they run it?

I only get to DW on average about every 8 years +/- . So, I'm wondering, from those who keep up, do they run Free Dining annually? How often do they do this? Thank you much!!

    Quieter vs. Loud restaurants?

We were so beat by the heat we missed our reservation at Hollywood & Vine. We only wanted the baby to meet Jake.

    Stroller Decorations?

I agree with DisneyF@n. I opted not to rent the City Select because I was renting an Ecomony sized car and I was afraid it wouldn't fit. Plus, it was easier to get through the airports with baby already in a coach. However, it was my lightweight Jeep (the $50 one from Walmart in black & blue)...

What Ride/Event/Show do you wish you SKIPPED with your children?

My baby (1 turning 2) did NOT appreciate the Hall of Presidents! LOL

    Quieter vs. Loud restaurants?

We hadn't eaten at Planet Hollywood in 15 years, we'd forgotten how LOUD it was there. The music was so loud we had to literally yell our order at our waiter. The food was excellent (that's the part we remembered, but I guess we just aged out of the noise level/blaring music). We also ate at...

    Underrated/Overrated Sit Downs

I think Cinderella's Castle is underrated. Most reviews I read online seemed to pretty much bash the place but it was easily my favorite meal this trip. I got the pork tenderloin and salad, which was amazing. Mom got the steak and couldn't quite share my delight. I also think the quick service...

WDWMAGIC Takes the Cake - The Official Cake Talk

MINI CAKE at Cinderella's Castle $35 + tax & gratuity = $43.20 My son's 2nd Birthday. He tore this thing up! He's a cake monster and I'm so happy with this little cake. I didn't know the Mickey Ears were chocolate, I thought it was a plastic "souvenir" but he immediately broke off an ear and...

    Saving place at the pool

Oh, thank you for the clarity! That makes sense too. It's about the same here inner city. But to stay on topic I'll comment no further.

Excellent information! Dually noted. We almost stayed at the Caribbean.

Making room requests and "preferred rooms"

You should be able to request a "pool view" and also request a ground floor room. A "preferred room" is closer to the main lobby/eateries, etc., which also come at an extra cost. We were originally going to stay at the All Star Movies and we paid for a preferred room to make it easier (with a...

    Saving place at the pool

This was the case at every single pool area/water park we entered. EVERY chair was "reserved" with a ton of towels or other items. It's interesting because it's the same at a local park we frequent - yet you never see an entire family lined up in a set of chairs - when they are done being in the...

    Gratuity for hotel Maid/Housekeeping Staff?

That's exactly what happened to us on one of our last vacations. My husband said to leave the tip at the end of the week but I said no, and wasn't the maid a different person on our very last day!!

    Gratuity for hotel Maid/Housekeeping Staff?

I have a question to add if the OP doesn't mind... What is an acceptable gratuity for the maid/housekeeping?
