Do we still need park reservations when back to full capacity??

Yep, actually we’d start 6 months before w/ making our dinner ADRs trying to guess which parks would be open later or have evening EMHs based on historical trends & trying to predict which nights MK would close early for upcharge Christmas ‘parties.‘ Our preferred visit had us securing a.m. FPs...

Do we still need park reservations when back to full capacity??

I wonder if the park pass system is pulling ticket revenue forward. In my case, although we have APs, family joining us do not & I suggested that they get their tickets now for our Dec. trip just to be sure they’d have access to the parks we wanted especially since they are staying offsite (we...

Politics 28000 Layoffs coming to Disney's domestic theme parks - statement from Josh D'Amaro

So maybe Disney took a look at the Florida numbers and decided it didn’t pencil out to reopen CA w/ only 25% attendance & most of that from local APs?

Politics 28000 Layoffs coming to Disney's domestic theme parks - statement from Josh D'Amaro

DL is much smaller than the MK, I wonder if the issue is maintaining 6’, or given the different demographic that frequents DL (local APs) v. WDW whether staying below 25% would present a bigger challenge in DL? I do know that w/ a workable plan you can have limited opening in the red tier - for...

Politics 28000 Layoffs coming to Disney's domestic theme parks - statement from Josh D'Amaro

Tuesday nights are when California county Covid numbers are tallied, so if your numbers are down on Tuesday you may move down a tier & more things can open in your county on Wednesday. Disneyland/Orange County is currently in the red tier & very close to going into the orange tier...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

There’s a reason that last week’s headlines included the news that major retailers like Walmart, McDonalds’s, Target, etc. were mandating masks at all their stores irrespective of whether masks were required by the state/local government where individual stores are located...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

Actually, WDW opened during a time of widespread social unrest - against the war in Vietnam. When the widespread protesting began, I wasn’t surprised, I was expecting some type of eruption due to peoples anger/fear over the COVID situation, I just didn’t know what the catalyst/cause would be...

News Magic Kingdom July 2020 reopening reports

Don‘t know how the balloon was launched, but we do see mom pulling down her mask to yammer at the whining kid.

Do you think that Disney world will reclose its gates due to the rising number of COVID cases in Florida and around the country?

I wonder how that is to be accomplished? I’m not optimistic that there’ll be successful enforcement of masks/social distancing based on CM‘s historic failure at actually enforcing simple rules prepandemic. IME it seems there’s almost a culture at WDW of placating the small percentage of...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

The excess death numbers will probably, ultimately, be the only way we’ll really know how bad Covid-19 was, given the failure to test and thus collect the data. Interesting to contrast the CDC’s 10% uptick for the entire country with the far higher uptick in areas experiencing robust Covid-19...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Interesting decision, I wonder why. Because mandatory health questionnaires worked so well in stopping coved-19 from embarking w/ passengers on cruise ships...not. There are hopefully many things that can be done to enhance cm & visitor protection from infectious disease when the parks reopen...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

I’m in a part of CA where the beaches are still open but with mandated 6’ distancing, no grouping etc.. Based on my daily walks on my neighborhood beach I can report that many family and young adult ‘groups’ seem oblivious to the rules or think they don’t apply to their oh so special selves and...

The almost 14% number is surprisingly high compared to the 2 California studies which both were at approx. 4% (USC/LA https://news.usc.edu/168987/antibody-testing-results-covid-19-infections-los-angeles-county/ Stanford/Santa Clara...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

It makes sense from a business perspective to do select for income/expense ratio, but how do you do that lawfully? I have an AP. Every day WDW is closed extends how long my AP will be valid. If the park opens for AP only, then I assume those automatic extensions would end. I think I read that...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Oh, my summary wasn’t very artful then, the numbers show that at least in Santa Clara far more have had covid-19 than our current tests reveal. Hopefully we’ll see more research such as this in several different regions to gain a better understanding of what we’re dealing with.

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Stanford just released the results of an interesting antibody study they conducted in Santa Clara County. Santa Clara county is where Silicon Valley is & it was hit w/ pretty high covid-19 numbers. Stanford’s results suggest that a much higher number (48,000 - 81,000) than reported in the...

Sweden, like the US, is lagging in testing thus your numbers of new cases may simply reflect that. Plus the source of your data isn’t named, so it’s problematic for that reason as well. A more useful metric would be number of hospitalizations or deaths, which Sweden isn’t doing too well w/, but...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

I am your parents’ age & those folks are most likely scared or angry about their own situations. Whatever they say reveals the kind of people they are, but, unless they know you personally, says nothing about you. Your determination, drive, and dedication got you to this point. You will harness...
