Yes it sounds like maybe the lawsuit is playing into the “optional” IBCCES. Honestly people should be able to apply in person the same day, so that makes sense.

It sounds like they are moving to be more like Disney. When I read the article it indicates people with bathroom and mobility issues will no longer be eligible for the pass, but instead receive a return to queue accommodation. I wonder if Uni was getting a lot more people applying after Disney...

Yes! If they were to give DAS to everyone who had any sort of disability that makes being in a queue difficult, that would be a lot of people. I am guessing a lot of families have at least 1 person who would fall into this category.

Those rides also don’t have long wait times so many people with disabilities could probably still wait in those shorter lines too. Some people may need to visit at slower times, rope drop, go later nights, buy the paid system, or other. These are choices families have to make too.

I don’t think people are downplaying other types of disabilities. No one is mocking people either. I gave you a real life example of my husband, who has IBS, leaving line or just not even going on a ride.

This absolutely happened to us on our last visit. Some of the LLs were too long for our son to handle. They were out their regular queue and way past 20min. So we honestly couldn’t even use his DAS at times.

They will never do this to DAS as a standby person can wait as many times as they want. So a person with DAS should be able to do the same (wait outside the line).

So what about families with young children who have to do this? Is that discriminatory? A lot of families have to split up for a variety of reasons. Is it preferable, no, but it is an option to be able to RIDE with your family still.

You can tell the CM you need to wait outside the line and join the rest of your party at the merge (through the LL). My understating is this is allowed.

Getting out of a line isn’t that bad. Now this is without an ECV or wheelchair, I can’t say anything about those. My husband has left the line a few times or not entered the line because he can tell a flair is coming. It wasn’t an issue. People get out of the way because you are leaving. What do...

Yes but the difference is the line is not causing the issue. The issue happens everywhere, not just in lines. Same as being in a car, that person has to plan ahead and sometimes stop randomly.

Most of the people I see ask about it on fb are specifically asking about DAS because they used to qualify.

They had plans but yes there was confusion. I also don’t think their plans were supposed to be black and white and that bothers people. Their plans for the other accommodations vary depending on factors like party size, wait time, etc. People don’t like that they don’t have one clear answer, but...

Yes, which I why they ended up on DAS for “just in case” because their needs can vary day to day, hour to hour, etc.

Oh I thought you were saying they would just go to the CM at the ride and get a return time, not even enter the line at all. Maybe I’m misunderstanding. That is what RTQ is right, getting a return time at the ride.

New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

That is assuming people won’t get greedy and will only use it when they NEED to. Personally I’ve seen many people state that they need DAS because it MIGHT happen at any time, so I don’t think people would use it sparingly if allowed RTQ, they would use it at every ride just in case. But on the...

New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Wouldn’t we be right back in the same place then? All the overuse clogging up the LLs? It would be just like having DAS but having to walk to the ride instead of selecting it in the app. Or are you assuming those people would only use it if their need arises, not for every ride?

New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

Yes that is what DAS is intended for. However, there is a whole page before that on disabilities in general. People who don’t even know about DAS wouldn’t go straight to the DAS page. Read the very first sentence of the page...

New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

This 100%. The main disability page lists other options as well. It’s only people who were used to having DAS that are going straight to that page. Start at the main disability page and there is more information. People are just choosing to be mad and only see what they want to see.

The website does not make it sound like Disney doesn’t want non developmentally disabled people there. You are just making stuff up now. They state on the website that there are different types of accommodations for different needs. DAS is just one type of accommodation and meant for a select...
