News Test Track Closing for Refurbishment January 2020

How so? I don't see it as dated, as I see elements of that general aesthetic everywhere -- including TV shows like "Stranger Things" and computer interfaces. I doubt the "everything's flat" look of Windows 10 is going away anytime soon.

News New Play Pavilion to replace Epcot's Wonders of Life

The Making of Me involved adult play... so why not? :inlove:

Rumor Figment, well, to be replaced by Figment

No, it's supposed to be something more experiential and less passive. It's done in a similar fashion to when other parks received overhauls. Plus, I don't think Disney wants to draw attention to the fact that they have nothing planned for the Imagination Pavilion at this stage of the overhaul.

Rumor Figment, well, to be replaced by Figment

Imagination isn't in the Nature section, it's in the Celebration section. Pretty sure this has been gone over ad nauseum here.

    Well, not always.... ;)

    What if Disney went dry......

I'd argue that it is a good thing for kids seeing adults drinking responsibly. In many of the countries represented in the World Showcase, drinking beer and wine is legal at age 16 and part of that is the fact that kids/teenagers learn what responsible drinking is with their parents -- as...

Disney Skyliner shutdown and evacuation - October 6 2019

But when the detrimental parts of interstates are pointed out (low capacity compared to mass transit, slower speeds than rail, more prone to congestion, user operator error, safety, etc) some ideologically-driven people will still defend them as providing "freedom", even if they have to sit in...

Disney Skyliner shutdown and evacuation - October 6 2019

The only hysteria I am seeing are the people here who were against this to begin with. And they won't be convinced otherwise...

Disney Skyliner shutdown and evacuation - October 6 2019

Why would they need to convince people it's safe to ride, when it is safe to ride?

Rumor Figment, well, to be replaced by Figment

Is Iger also shocked that Haunted Mansion, Pirates, and Soarin' are big hits? Or were they green-lit by executives less enlightened than him and somehow flukey?

News Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

You really want Innoventions and HISTA back? And Journey into YOUR Imagination? How are those better than Star Wars Land? o_O;)

News Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind attraction confirmed for Epcot

I don't think it was horrible. But with the changing nature of the information presented and the fact it relied so heavily on celebrities I'd argue that it had a shelf life of about 10 years. We should've been saying "bye-bye" to this version of the attraction in 2005-2006 when vestiges of...

    News Tomorrowland love

I agree with most of this - but I don't think the Speedway should be torn out, just modernized with electric cars and new landscaping. For some reason, adults for whom driving is a frustrating and annoying daily task, seem to forget that children very much want to be able to drive cars. This...

Journey of Water featuring Moana coming to Epcot

This. In fact, I'd argue that protecting and caring for our natural resources is very integral to our future. That's why Disney placed "Land" and "Sea" pavilions in EPCOT to begin with. An outdoor display doesn't clash with a protoype community of tomorrow; in the future I would hope that...

News New Play Pavilion to replace Epcot's Wonders of Life

My ultimate hope is that the Play pavilion is temporary in every sense of the word (not low-quality, though!) and that ultimately a futuristic playground will once again occupy the top floor of a properly re-enegized Imagination pavilion!

    "The Problem With Disney Fans"

I don't buy into the "Disney knows what they are doing" argument he presents, when it is so patently untrue. If they knew what they were doing, they wouldn't have poured over $1,000,000,000 into redoing DCA. If they knew what they were doing, they wouldn't have let EPCOT stagnate. Etc Etc Etc.

Rumor Inside Out to Replace Journey into Imagination with Figment?

Of course, SSE had 2 different sponsors during that time period who dropped money into updating the attraction. Imagination had only one that was going bankrupt.

Rumor Is the End of Innoventions Near?

A lot of people keep saying this, but in my experience of studying adaptive reuse of historic properties, it is rare that tearing down and rebuilding is less expensive than repurposing cared-for and flexible spaces. There's a reason why when someone wants to tear something down to build new...
