News New exhibit to open inside Palais du Cinéma alongside updated Impressions de France and Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along

That’s because it isn’t 4K, nor is a 4K image being displayed on those screens. I reckon that term just keeps popping around because it’s the latest for home theatres and people who don’t know about projection technology want to somehow express that it will look better than it did before.

Man Accused of Stealing Buzzy's Clothing from Disney World Arrested

Trespassing is rarely prosecuted unless it is truly heinous. On the rare times it is, it is usually coupled with actual crimes like burglary. I condemn theft because that isn't urban exploring in the slightest. But if he plans on doing what Adam the Woo or Sonswa do now, it is usually...

News Beauty and the Beast sing-along coming to Epcot's France Pavilion

I did -- many times now. I can't be the only person who wanted to visit France -- and then did -- after seeing IdF. Films like IdF are, in a sense, a call to action. The whole point of the World Showcase was to get you to participate in the world around you. Does anyone reckon that a BatB...

News Beauty and the Beast sing-along coming to Epcot's France Pavilion

I heard you the first time. And you are still incorrect. ;);) IdF was meant for the type of person who would prefer to spend a day at the Musee D'Orsay over the Parc Astérix. But even if one prefers thrills or cartoons over timeless beauty doesn't mean that timeless beauty shouldn't still be...

News Beauty and the Beast sing-along coming to Epcot's France Pavilion

Again, IdF encouraged me to study French and visit France. Seeing something in a film isn't exactly the same as seeing it with your own eyes, obviously. But after many trips to France, I can't say that the film is inaccurate in capturing the general feeling of being there yourself. One of...

News Beauty and the Beast sing-along coming to Epcot's France Pavilion

Unlike the other WS films, there is very little about IdF that points to what year it was made. It didn't bow down to the trends of the day. You have to look pretty closely to notice a few people's glasses and cars aren't up-to-date. IdF avoided the problem that was present in films such as...

News Beauty and the Beast sing-along coming to Epcot's France Pavilion

The fact that Disney didn't see fit to replace it for decades -- when pretty much everything else in the park has been changed and swapped over the years -- says you're wrong. If IdF is boring, then so is Versailles, the French Riviera, skiing in the Alps, riding high speed trains, going to the...

News Beauty and the Beast sing-along coming to Epcot's France Pavilion

Proof, please. Seems to have withstood the test of time for DECADES. It was the reason middle-school me decided to study French and continued with it for 7 years into University. I've taken multiple trips to France, made some close friends, and even got to live a lifelong dream of exploring...

Rumor Figment, well, to be replaced by Figment

Katiebug would be annoyed if the skunk scent was eliminated. Flatulence-free Figment would be "unmagical" https://www.disboards.com/threads/katiebugs-orlando-vacation-on-a-budget-part-iii.282978/

News New Play Pavilion to replace Epcot's Wonders of Life

I'm curious about what happens to the corporate lounge area and mural in the staircase. I hope they will largely be left alone in their POMO condition.

News Announced: Mary Poppins Attraction in UK Pavilion

Yep, it's a beautiful ski resort that has a Swiss side and an Italian side. One of the best days of my life so far was skiing in Zermatt. If you see the real Matterhorn in person (and all the trains!) you can understand why Walt Disney was so inspired by it. It's one of the most beautiful...

    Updates to the Seas Pavilion

How many actual countries have you visited that are portrayed at EPCOT? I've been to most -- several times. I don't see a whole lot of "mostly outdated stereotypes" being portrayed there. My Oma's hometown looks so much like the Germany pavilion that it is really quite remarkable. Granted...

What's the deal with the Haunted Mansion?

It's an excellent and immersive ride that allows you to make up your own story and let your imagination run wild in. It is of a nice long length. And it demonstrates that IP infusion isn't necessary to make something that will be largely popular. It isn't a "cult" favorite - it's a Favorite.

    Updates to the Seas Pavilion

I think with LED lighting, they could restore much of the technology and make it less labor intensive with changing bulbs and general energy usage. Enjoy the efficiency!

    Updates to the Seas Pavilion

Disney created EPCOT. Therefore, it is fundamentally Disney. Universal's Marketing now likes to pull out the "tired of the pixie dust and fairy tales?" as an alternative to what Disney offers. Once upon a time, EPCOT basically also offered an alternative to the pixie dust and fairy tales with...

News Spaceship Earth Refurb - 2 Year Closure

I could get on board with closed captioning for the hard-of-hearing as well as a narration selection at the beginning like there currently is. But I don't think there is a need for trivia, it would just be a distraction. The focus of the ride should always be outwards, not on the screens.

Disney Skyliner shutdown and evacuation - October 6 2019

There are also far-higher end resorts around the world than Riviera that use these systems. One thing I see time-and-time again from some is how these "NEED" air conditioning. The thing is, in order to supply air conditioning, they would need to have capacitors installed - you cannot have...

News Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind attraction confirmed for Epcot

For this particular attraction, couldn't that be considered a wash, then? UoE was primarily screen-based, with a ride element tossed in for good measure.
