News Bob Iger is back! Chapek is out!!

Lots of rose colored glasses for Iger. Comments I've read across the net sound like Iger will embody Eisner and bring about a 2nd Disney Renaissance.

News Bob Iger is back! Chapek is out!!

I agree mostly. The park situation is what initially lead me to cancel our '22 trip (nothing was booked yet). The dust up with the state, and released conference calls of a "not so secret agenda" is what cemented my decision to spend no further dollars with WDC. No parks/hotels, no Disney+...

Why I Will Definitely Go Again

I expect we will go back, but it's gonna be a hot minute before we do. No need to list the reasons, it is "all of the above". For the first time in a long time, we have no active plans to return, and I must admit that hurts a bit.

Look,, if WDW is this crowded.. the OPEN A FIFTH PARK...

I suppose that is possible, but I am convinced that the price could be raised to 500 per person per day, and Disney gate attendants get to punch every visitor in the gut upon entry, and the parks would still be packed with people. This is the result of having a product that tons of people want...

What In The World ….. could they be thinking?

It is money saving. Why offer something at no cost if there are plenty of people who can't wait to throw their money to WDC? Disney has discovered that all the extra magic is not required to attract people to the parks. I'm convinced Disney could cut offerings even more and people will still...

    Are you buying Genie+

Plot twist. Everyone will pay for Genie+, and thus all will be in the "fastpass" line so the line will be the same wait time as before, except everyone will have paid twice for the privilege (gate & genie+) of standing in a line. Then all of a sudden the regular line will be the shortest wait...

    Are you buying Genie+

Agreed, but I still paid full price for the trip, no discount or extra benefit was offered to help make up for the significantly reduced offerings from the time we booked to the time of our visit. We'd booked and paid for the trip prior to the pandemic because Ft. Wilderness.

    Are you buying Genie+

I think you are correct. However, this is just one more thing added to the pile. For some, at a point the pile just becomes too much to overcome. I'm still a bit sore at the charge for resort parking, and we stay at the campgrounds so I've never paid it, but it still just smells of BS to me...

How is Rope Drop these days?

So basically staying on property is no longer beneficial from a transportation standpoint, especially when it comes to bus transportation. Since our upcoming November trip booked to Ft. Wilderness (back in 2019) hasn’t been discounted any, I was hoping not to have to spend more for private...

News New Play Pavilion to replace Epcot's Wonders of Life

Same here, I really liked WoL, and Body Wars I only got to ride once back in 1992, so only have faded memories. I wonder when the simulators were pulled and where they were sent. And how the heck did they get them out of the building? Seems like the doors to outside aren’t large enough, so...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

International a huge majority? I thought it was about 15% of the typical crowd?

    Ever think you would miss....

I don't like the price that has been paid to get us to no crowds (deaths, financial ruin, lost jobs, environmental impact from all this PPE), but spending more time on rides and experiences rather than standing in a 2 or 3 hour line for 8 minutes of fun really is the silver lining in this cloud.

    Opening WDW with Social Distancing

I've not seen mention here about the optics of ordering some of your 60K employees to return to work and make your official guidance be something along the lines of: "Make sure none of the guests are able to sneeze or cough on you while being in close quarters to them, and wash your hands...

    Any truth in this

I think this is pretty insightful, you can’t fill a theme park with a ton of people and keep them socially distanced, I don’t care how many virtual queues you create. Cleaning surfaces between each rider would bring ride capacity to a trickle, and restaurants, theaters, busses, etc. are all a...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

We are better suited today to deal with this virus than at any point in American history, the question is will we take advantage of our capabilities and pursue safer alternatives to business as usual, or will enough people continue to shrug off the seriousness and continue the spread?

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

I had a conference in Manhattan scheduled for April 21st and it was canceled this week. Was planning a 5 day tourist trip prior to the meeting. Ah well.. To keep on subject, my guess is people with reservations thru March will still go to the parks, but those with vacations 20, 40, 60 days...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Yep, late to the thread, appologies. I find shaking fists at humanity to be a prime example of a useless waste of time, and therefore don't take part. I'm willing to offer a shaking head occasionally, and perhaps a smirk, but otherwise reserve my efforts for more productive pursuits.

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

more than 100 Americans lose their life in automobile crashes every day, yet I see people racing down the road in a 5K lb. death machine while staring at their phone screen and typing up a post in online forums about how deadly the COVID19 is. SMH. The irony is not lost on me. Give...

    Hardest hotel reservations

Yes, the Campgrounds at Ft. Wilderness. I’m looking for reservations more than a year out and am having troubles stringing more than 7 days together. And it is middle November before Thanksgiving.
