Maybe they just figured that if Guests wanted a more classic tiki vibe they’d stay at the original resort, while those that wanted a more “modern Hawaii” vibe would choose the more modern resort…at least they’d have a choice…? That being said, I haven’t heard that the over-the-top tiki theming...

Better yet, they coulda’ built the DVC resort around the monorail, a la CR, ‘cause nothin’ speaks modern Hawaii like that. 😉
