Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

I'd be devastated, of course, who wouldn't? But, at the same time, if she were literally the only child (or even one of the very few), why would I blame society for it? At the end of the day, it's a risk to cross the street. If she got hit by a car, I'd also be devastated. But I still wouldn't...

Universal Puts Disney's Reopening on Defensive

Since I believe that the OC Mayer said the news would be "good" tomorrow, I'd think they'll be opening earlier rather than later. I can't imagine it would be good news if Disney weren't planning on opening until August or later. If I were putting money on it I'd bet on 2nd half of June. But who...

    WDW Reopening Estimates

Exactly-- the order states they may submit a reopening plan, but that request shall identify the certain reopening date. So there's no timeline for them to submit the plan, but when they do, they have to have an opening date. It'll be interesting to see how far in the future that date will be.

Universal Puts Disney's Reopening on Defensive

Tomorrow is going to be loads of fun. No matter what happens, one contingent here is going to be upset- which will it be? "they're opening too soon" or "they're opening too late"... Gotta get the popcorn ready.

Phased reopening also refers to restrictions placed on it. i.e. capacity caps, masks, distancing, etc. Or it could also include opening some parks and not others.

    WDW Reopening Estimates

Absolutely. To be honest, I didn't think there was one either, which was why I went and looked. I will say that tomorrow should be loads of fun. No matter the date, there's going to be a contingent here that is going to be upset- either they're opening too soon or not soon enough. Personally...

Universal Puts Disney's Reopening on Defensive

Yep. There's been an assumption that Resorts would open coincident with the parks. I've never been quite so sure that made sense. I guess we'll find out more tomorrow

    WDW Reopening Estimates

When DeSantis announced that theme parks should submit their plans he said: “They should identify the date certain that they believe that they can resume safe operations,” DeSantis said of the park operators. “They have to provide how they’re going to do it, how they’re going to accommodate the...

Universal Puts Disney's Reopening on Defensive

It does look like we may have an expected date for park opening by then. That doesn't mean that the resort hotels will be opened at the same time. Everyone is assuming that they will open at the same time, but that's not required. Universal hasn't announced anything about resorts opening for...

They've updated those articles to say it's for Japan Domestic Travel; sadly it doesn't look (at the moment) that they'll be subsidizing foreign tourism.

How much of Disney World has to be open for you to go?

It's not a Disney resort, but we're headed to Orlando and staying at a resort near Disney Springs from the 28th for 5 days. Our resort says the following: Pool areas and other amenities, such as gyms, will be open wherever state and local jurisdictions allow, and following social distancing and...

It's a leasehold -- it says it right there. That's why it expires. You're basically renting at DVC. While you don't "own" the property, for the duration of the lease, it's kind of a moot concept... much like an apartment, you've paid for the use of the facilities for a set period of time. So...
