    Disney Springs construction begins

This should have been done back in '97 along with the West Side. Negotiating the side walk around PI to Ws was almost a thrill attraction itself.

    Do you read the news?

I alway bought a USA Today at the resort bus stop, and read on the way to the park. We have not been to WDW since 2007, so I was wondering, do the still have newspaper boxes at the resort stops? :bookworm:

    I remember ....................

Back in the mid-80's I was studying the property map that hung near the Teachers Center. An older gentleman came up , asked if I had any questions, and proceeded to point out certain things. His narrative was laced with phrases likes,"what Walt wanted", Walt's concept was", and "Walt's idea". I...

Question for the WDW historians (or older folks)

Doubletree opened as the Picket Suites Resort in March 1987, became Guest Quarters Suite in 1990 and Doubletree in 1995. On our first trip in 1985 the Preview Center was called the Reception Center, and was used for initial guest check in. The building housed the Walt Disney Travel Co. in the...

when did disney start using magnetic room keys and not actual keys

The last time we had a room key was for a Fall 1985 stay at CR. From 1986 until 1997 at OKW we had punch cards like the one shown by Cosmic Commando. The first magnetic card we used was at OKW in 1995, so the changeover probably took place across a few years in the mid 90's.

    Late Sept. previews ?

Productive? It depends. On a good day RADP may get 25 or so posts. Alt.Disney.Disneyland is dead as a doormouse. But Rec.Woodworking has had 7,000+ posts in the past two months.

    Extinct Shops and Restaurants

Here's some stuff: Liberty Square looks good! Frontierland Westward Ho was the original shop in the space now called Prairie Outpost, with Bearly Country in the time between. See: http://www.omniluxe.net/wyw/westho.htm And to be overly technical, regarding the Diamond Horseshoe Saloon...
