Jersey week? I'm from NJ but have no idea what it is. Never heard of it till I started reading threads on here.

Everyone who works for or has children in the New Jersey public school system has spring break during the same week. Therefore many of them head to WDW for vacation at the same time, resulting in what is called “Jersey Week”.

Its the break NJ has for the teachers convention in Atlantic City. It is also cancelled this year due to Sandy. Idk if the break is still on for this year. A lot of schools couldn't open this week anyway.

Yep, Jersey week is realted to the NJ teachers convention, not spring break. Schools close for a Thursday and Friday in early November for the convention, so it's a good time to go to Disney since it's not a holiday for anyone else.

It's that week when you greet everyone with your best Joe Piscopo:
"I'm from Joisey, you from Joisey?"

Sorry, Channel Islands not included.

Thanks all! I remember those days off but think waaaay back then WDW wasn't the destination it is now for families. I also live in GA now so I didn't know that was THE place to go now during the Time off, lol. There must be A LOT of Jersians though if there is actually a nickname given to those days they are all there!

Thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one. I lived in NJ until right before I turned 18 and the majority of my family and friends are from NJ/still live there. I've never known anyone to venture to WDW during the convention week- so I'd never heard of Jersey week. I thought maybe it was just a more modern NJ thing, but still- none of my friends with kids back in NJ do it. They usually do summer, Christmas, spring break, etc.

And they have, according to the planning video, "On Special nights, join us in the Magic Kingdom for MNSGFPP (Mickey's Not So Guido Fist Pumping Party), a full romp with clubbing and techno music. This is a hard ticketed event. Parents and children alike dress up with their best poofy hair (for females) muscle shirts and chain necklaces (for males). Families get to go to each club and strut their stuff. Most QS restaurants and TS restaurants are transformed for the evening. For example, Pecos Bill becomes Piscataway Pete's. The only restaurant that does not change is Tony's in Town Square, as it is already Italian.
