News Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

The higher the humidity, the more each degree matters. For example, if you have a day with 60% humidity (the average in the afternoon for Orlando in August) and… 80° F, the real feel will be around 82° 85° F, the real feel will be around 90° 90° F, the real feel will be around 100° 95° F, the...

‘Alien’ Franchise Resurrected by ‘Evil Dead’ Director Fede Alvarez!

I saw this elsewhere so can't claim credit but it really does feel like this was The Force Awakens of the Alien universe.

Just got home from seeing it. The first 30-40 was great. It went downhill from there.

News 2023 TEA/AECOM Global Attendance Report, EPCOT Sees Significant Growth

The recent trend isn't great and there is obviously a point where you can take it too far (and I agree that they may well have crossed it), but you will have a hard time convincing any CEO or board these days that making 1.67 billion in Q3 2018 (1.339 unadjusted) is better than making 2.222...

Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

There are absolutely issues and they can't keep pulling the same song and dance as it is already catching up to them in many different areas but, attendance was never going to drop off a cliff the way many kept thinking. Turns out, it wasn't even down overall. That doesn't mean everything is all...

Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

I believe the first two reports this year for Q2 and Q3 were flat or at least attendance wasn’t mentioned but what guidance they did give indicated softer demand going forward so I expect we will see drops for both Q4 and Q1.

News 2023 TEA/AECOM Global Attendance Report, EPCOT Sees Significant Growth

Just doing a quick scan, here is what they had to say about WDW in each of the earning reports last year: Jan – March – “The increase in volumes was due to attendance growth and higher occupied room nights” April-July – “Lower volumes were due to decreases in occupied room nights and...

Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

It is 2023 compared to 2022. The drops will be seen in the next report that will cover 2024 as I guess the decreases they did see last year were not enough to outpace when they were up.

News 2023 TEA/AECOM Global Attendance Report, EPCOT Sees Significant Growth

As for the report itself, nothing too surprising. Disney being flat while Uni being down just under double digits seems about right. Both roughly line up with what we were hearing from the companies at the time. Next year’s report (this year’s attendance) will likely see Uni drop further as...

News 2023 TEA/AECOM Global Attendance Report, EPCOT Sees Significant Growth

Did almost the exact same last trip. We spent 1/2 day in DHS instead of the 2 we normally do and plan on doing the same next trip. It just isn't a fun park to be in currently.

Same. They already told us this quarter wasn't going to be great during the last earnings call but I do wonder if they held up a little better than Comcast if for no other reason than Uni is also losing people that are waiting for Epic next year. Guess we will get a good idea next week.

Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

The only issue so far is at some point you need to decide if you want to get it for the rest of your "trip" and try and prebook all those days to accurately imitate someone on site who just learned about it. If you really want to make it fun, because this fictional family may have already had...

G+ was Maxpass minus having to be in the park. No WDW park has the ride capacity that DL has so it never could be restricted to the headliners so in turn never worked as well but functionality wise, the systems where pretty close.

Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

I think it is a worse system to get more/better short lines vs. G+. My point is that more/better selections are not as important as other factors for many guests. On the booking front, I expect it will help because paying for an overpriced room with more benefits is better than paying for the...

Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

I agree, it is worse. It is the worst system they have ever had for the way I like to vacation, but it is what they are offering currently. All of us can either make the best of it and use it, go and don't use it, or not go at all. Personally, I will go and try it and if it is great, wonderful...

Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

Just want to point out that this isn't entirely true either. Anyone who couldn't schedule before 4pm because good times were gone or don't show up until later could very well be stuck with worse options they can't change to what they want due to restrictions like the tiers. That didn't happen...

Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

What you are failing to acknowledge is that most people are happier with a "worse" system as they don't care about potential use, only what fits their needs best. Throw in that G+ got to eat all the hate from being the first paid system and here we are. Mathematically, the new system is the...

Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

If you can make more money by selling something directly to the consumer vs. renting it out to other companies to sell or partner then it makes sense to own it directly. It doesn't work for everything but for a lot of stuff it does. You bring up Star Wars so let's look at that. Execution aside...

Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

Great, that may be true as I am not very familiar with how Broadway works but a single Broadway production is structurally more like a movie than an entire company in my mind. A movie has a defined life and a fixed budget to measure its success/failure against, just like a play. With a publicly...
