When they announced their discovery of the DA, Ron Peri complained that the board loses most the majority of its ability to do anything beyond maintain roads and basic infrastructure. They have no interest in the nitty gritty of running the district.

Or at least cherry-picked quotes. They should have received it a month ago. The fact that they haven’t said anything about it makes me think it isn’t entirely what they were expecting -? I hope some of the local press have requested a copy.

It sounds like they’ve unilaterally decided to stop paying for certain city expenses covered by the agreement (after everyone finalized their budgets) and they therefore won’t renew the agreement. It could be just one more way to pretend they aren’t raising taxes to pay lawyers and other...

They have a new website in progress. Looks like they’re just putting all the same content on a new website.

I assume the plan is (was?) to de-annex land from RCID.

It hasn’t helped that so much of the media coverage has failed to explain how RCID worked or, worse, simply parroted the widespread misunderstanding that it was a “tax break” for Disney.

I would start with checking the website for the particular hotel. I think most (maybe all) good neighbour offer some form of transportation to the parks but details will vary, such as: complimentary vs. paid; hours; regular schedule vs. advance reservation; regular park hours only vs. regular +...

And I’d bet that legislation was written in direct response to the Development Agreeement that was already in the process of being approved by RCID. Will discovery turn up some communication(s) that confirm this? 🤷‍♀️ but I wouldn’t be surprised.

Yup. Based on their request for production of deed restrictions or restrictive covenants I’d say they’ve finally (kind of) clued in to this issue and they’d like Disney to do their homework for them.

I think the district was designated to deal with planning for all 3 entities. IIRC this was referenced in the cities’ amendments to conform to the new Comprehensive Plan. One of the district’s arguments is that the cities didn’t agree to the DA, but I can’t remember how Disney responded to that...

I suspect that the current board is mostly interested in a lengthy expensive process. They’re running the place in the meantime and everyone makes money while they wreak as much havoc as possible. No matter what happens in the end, they walk away unscathed and Disney foots the bill for the whole...

it turned out that all the lawyers were free that day 😄

There are some lawyers on that list, so I expect there’ll be strong disagreements (and possibly litigation) about the appropriate limits on deposition questions. At least the district seems to have abandoned their attempt to avoid full discovery.
