Disneyland vs. WDW loyalty: What are the reasons you don't visit the other park?

i don't think so, no. by sheer size, sure, WDW is bigger. but it has become far less of a monetary value and a far more homogenized experience in the last 15-to-20 years. and there is undoubtedly a higher standard of maintenance in anaheim.

Disneyland vs. WDW loyalty: What are the reasons you don't visit the other park?

i imagine it's going to be the same for most: proximity. though for what it costs to spend any length of time at WDW now, a cross-country flight and a few days at disneyland is probably more cost efficient. believe it or not, though, back in the late '80s and early '90s, conventional wisdom was...

    Comicon big phone 1993

my family and i used this almost every time we visited. we were consistently amazed by it. it's pretty ridiculous to think about now, considering it was just a big speaker phone. it's even crazier to think that video calling was a central part of the vision of the future in spaceship earth and...

News New Caribbean Beach Resort table service restaurant announced - Sebastian's Bistro

yup, i'm right here. totally cool with the name, just would like a more subtle nod. many even a backstory. "an aspiring restaurateur was laying on the beach one evening, all but ready to give up on his dream of opening an upscale caribbean bistro. suddenly, he heard words of encouragement from...

News New Caribbean Beach Resort table service restaurant announced - Sebastian's Bistro

to quote the west wing, disney under iger is, "like the french radical, watching the crowd run by and saying, 'there go my people. i must find out where they are going, so i can lead them.'"

yup, this. though it may be liberating to operate in this world without nuance, the capability for abstract thought is what quite literally makes us human.

News New Caribbean Beach Resort table service restaurant announced - Sebastian's Bistro

not that i think you expect an answer to your rhetorical question, but why they haven't always done it is that the resorts are very intentionally designed to be a meticulously themed oasis from the parks that transport you to a certain time period and geographical locale. so incorporating...

just want to thank @articos for the extra insight on this thread. it's pretty fantastic. like others in this thread, i, too, loved the '94 version. it was meant to feel grand, and it absolutely delivered on its intention. even from a young age, i walked off that ride feeling awestruck by the...

Pay more, get less. When does it end?

i think some people need to get past the desire to see things in black-and-white. you don't have to be satisfied with every single facet of the WDW experience to still want to go. these two things are not mutually exclusive. the title of this post is literally, "pay more, get less: when does...

Pay more, get less. When does it end?

so here's the thing: i see both schools of thought. i've been going to WDW since 1987, and annually from 1993-to-2013. i've pretty much seen it all. it isn't debatable that the place just isn't the same. internal standards are lower, the corporate focus is different, and the value is worse...

Rumor Is Indiana Jones Planning an Adventure to Disney's Animal Kingdom?

so to take this thread off the rails hahaha yes. seasons 6 and 7 are highly underrated (specifically seven). season 5 is even better than i usually remember. my two least favorite arcs in the post-sorkin era are the zoey thing and the camp david talks, but other than that, i really enjoy the...

News The Hall of Presidents is now open

totally, that's fair. i don't think anyone should care what attractions another person does or does not enjoy. if you want an escape from all that stuff, you have certainly paid a premium for a WDW vacation to have that be your right. and it doesn't make you a bad or ignorant person in the...

News The Hall of Presidents is now open

didn't call you that, man. the question was posed, "what does it say about me?" so i am giving you the other side of how thinking LOLSLEEP can be interpreted as a part of a larger trend. if you take that personally, i don't know what to tell you.
