The Magic Lives (and I'm a little surprised)

To be honest I wanted to give WDW a longer break. My plan was to return after Star Wars Land was finished. We stayed away for 2 years but my family finally staged an intervention and insisted we return. I was hoping to have a good time and went in with an open mind but I wasn't exactly hopeful...

The Magic Lives (and I'm a little surprised)

For those of you who know me, I've been pretty negative on these boards lately. I'm not a fan of MM+, unhappy with rising prices and grumpy about crowd levels in the parks. I'm also very picky about things I don't feel are up to the Disney "show" standard. Well... I just returned from 8 days in...

OKW in June... I have questions...

We just returned from OKW. The resort is in great shape. We had a really good time. They are working on buildings around South Point and Turtle Pond, but I didn't pay close attention to which buildings are closed. I didn't worry about getting a refurbed room since my understanding is that...

Watch out for the birds at WDW!

I was pleasantly surprised to read this... and then realized the post was from 2012. :(

I think I might be done with WDW.

Ok. I totally agree with that logic. We've cut our trips WAY back. Disney gets a LOT less of my money than they used to. We are going this year, for the first time in a few years, and I'm trying to go into it with an open mind. I'm not convinced I'll be dissatisfied before I go. I'm hoping that...

Rumor Is Indiana Jones Planning an Adventure to Disney's Animal Kingdom?

The best argument to why Indy fits in AK is that the current Dino-Land is terrible and most of us would celebrate its demise. That said, Indy doesn't really fit. :(

I think I might be done with WDW.

I get this comment a lot, and I don't really understand it. As you pointed out, the disgruntled aren't hurting attendance that much - the parks are still crowded. Those unhappy people who are posting here (like me), LOVE Disney. I am a Disney stockholder and DVC member. Until recently I...

I think I might be done with WDW.

The first thought is, "This doesn't affect me - if people want this program and can pay for it, good for them." That is so much the thinking among pixie dusters... but most of the changes Disney is making affect the average guest in one way or another. In this case, if Disney starts selling...

I think I might be done with WDW.

It used to be that when I would compare the Disney of old to current day, someone would shift the discussion to Disney vs. Universal, to make Disney look good by comparison. Now it's Disney vs Cedar Point? Good grief.

I think I might be done with WDW.

The paper Fastpass system worked a lot better for us, and I'm not sure I fully understand why. We used to get to the parks early, do standby lines while they were short, hustle around and grab FPs, and pretty much do all the major attractions in MK by mid-afternoon. We can't come close to that...

I think I might be done with WDW.

And this is why Disney can get away with closing MK early and charging extra for private nights, because the demand for MK is so high people will gladly pay it. I agree with the OP but I'm happy there are so many people who love the "new" Disney. It means my DVC membership still has value... :(

Should Space Mountain go down if Peoplemover is down? Discuss.

Riding the Peoplemover when Space is down with the lights on is very cool. But I can see the OP view about Space when the Peoplemover's lights are on. Space is best when it's dark - the darker the better!

    Cuts at Disney

There's pressure on all businesses to increase profit by keeping costs low, to "do more with less". But Disney built their business (and created immense loyalty) by exceeding guest expectations in every aspect of their vacation. Cast members were a HUGE part of that, so it's hard to see how they...

    Cuts at Disney

Disney is raising prices and offering upsell events to appeal to the more affluent guest. But cutting cast members and services causes the level of quality and service to decline, making the parks less appealing to the affluent guest. I agree with the original poster, who the heck is making...

Star Wars Land announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

The reaction to "The Last Jedi" makes me really nervous. Excitement around Star Wars is not declining. If anything, it's just gaining steam. The concept could support an entire park at this point. This "land" with just a few attractions will be overwhelmed and so crowded... honestly it's...

News Gotta Pay2Play: Paid FP on the way!

So here are my questions (directed especially at those who say, "What harm is it to you if rich people buy additional FPs?"): Will these FPs come out of the current FP inventory? And when will they be available for purchase? I want to know, will FPs for popular attractions be even more...

    Water Quality @ WDW

I'm not sure why, but I feel like the water quality varies depending where you are in the resort. In general, the water in the water fountains in MK taste terrible - the sulphur taste others have described. I didn't notice it as much in Epcot or Disney Springs.

    The Magic is gone!

This almost perfectly describes my recent trips. We had a good time but when you think about it and compare it to previous trips, you realize that 1) you paid a lot more than years past, and 2) you enjoyed yourself less. The value is not what it used to be. :(

For all you EPCOT beer drinkers...there's been a slight change

People on this forum tell me I need to stop judging all the things Disney does wrong and just enjoy my vacation. You're right... the beer helps (a little). :)

For all you EPCOT beer drinkers...there's been a slight change

Well... it's not a big deal because it generally doesn't affect me personally. I've even had a drunk person at Epcot stumble into me and then start yelling at me, and I just walked away (no real upside to getting into it with them). All that said, it is disturbing and sad to see drunk parents...
