    Tripod Suggestions?

    I use and like Manfrotto.

When do you get to hear "Welcome Home again"?!?!

This Saturday when I check in at Boardwalk Villas! :)

    Mass convert RAW to JPEG

I don't have a Mac, so I can't help with iPhoto. However, Lightroom 3 offers batch conversions to JPEG.

    Nikon D7000, D300s, or wait for D400?

I have the Nikon D7000 and love it. However, both Nikon and Canon make great cameras and have fine sets of lenses. What kind of Canon do you have now?

To Crop or Not to Crop?

If we were traditionalists, we'd still be shooting film and processing our prints in the dark room. Now we shoot digital and process on the computer.

    New Tripod on the way

I finally decided to upgrade from my inexpensive Manfrotto 7302YB aluminum tripod. I ordered a Manfrotto 055CXPRO3 carbon fiber tripod, along with a Really Right Stuff BH-40 with the B2-40 LR quick-release clamp. I'm excitedly waiting for it to arrive in the next fews days!

DVC has changed the resell rules

I'm not too upset at these changes. Things like the Disney Collection, the Adventurer Collection, the Concierge Collection, and AP discounts are all offered by Disney Vacation Development (DVD), the unit that builds the resorts and then sells the memberships. They are not part of our...

    Originality at WDW?

I started out with the kit lens, and then every trip I seem to have purchased a new lens (last trip I got a kick out of using the ultra-wide 10-24mm). I also moved from shooting JPEG to shoting RAW, and I had fun post-processing. I haven't tried HDR yet but it's on my radar.

    I got a Nikon D7000!

No, since you can easily use FX lenses on a DX camera (you can't do the reverse in most cases). In some cases, such as the 70-300mm VR, I'd prefer this FX lens over the 55-300 VR DX lens on my D7000. Using an FX lens on a DX camera reduces any vignetting the lens has (besides being a better...

    I got a Nikon D7000!

I only have DX lenses, but I think most of them work fine with the D7000. The 16-85 and 10-24 are pretty good DX lenses. I can't see myself paying more for FX lenses.

    SD Cards... Ideal for DSLR

I use class 10 SDHC cards, and I notice the difference in speed only when uploading photos to my camera, or when the internal buffer fills up when shooting a longer burst.

To Crop or Not to Crop?

Of course it's OK to crop. The camera is just as much of a tool to a photographer as Capture NX2, Lightroom 3, or Photoshop CS5. I shoot most of the time with my White Balance set to Auto, and then pick my preferred WB later. I might underexpose a shot, knowing it's easier to pull the...

    Nikon d3100

I use the 16-85mm as the walk-about lens on my D7000. I love it! It seems to be on my D7000 most of the time, followed by the 10-24mm.

Shooting Disney World - RAW vs. JPEG Fine

Previously, I always shot JPEG with my D5000 and then D7000. On my last trip, I shot RAW. There were a few shots that I really appreciated having the 14-bit NEF file to pull details out of the shadows or highlights using Capture NX2. I would think JPEG would probably be fine for 95% of my...

    I got a Nikon D7000!

I have the distortion correction disabled in my Nikon D7000, and I'm not doing any in Capture NX2. I went to Epcot today and took pictures only using the 10-24mm. You can check them out on my Flickr photostream.

Gear: Where Do You Draw The Line?

I almost pulled the trigger on the Tokina 11-16mm, but I preferred the additional range of the Nikon 10-24mm, so I went with that. I hear great things about the Tokina - enjoy it!

    I got a Nikon D7000!

I haven't yet used the 18-105mm kit lens it came with. I'm doing most of my shooting with the 16-85mm, my new 10-24mm and the 35mm f/1.8. These three tend to get used the most. I still have to find a reason to try out the 18-105mm.

    Nikon d3100

I think the Nikon D3100 is an excellent DSLR for a novice or amateur photographer.
