Disney Skyliner shutdown and evacuation - October 6 2019

You cannot slowly move or move anything if a car is stuck in a station. You're just going to cause a pile up which is exactly what happened. Fortunately cars getting stuck in a station is a very uncommon occurrence. Once you get the car unstuck, if possible you would remove it from the line at...

Disney Skyliner shutdown and evacuation - October 6 2019

People are not so meek and feeble as you make them out to be. People know how to operate the windows and vents just fine. You know those little kids that are running all over the parks? They're pretty damn smart. They will not only show you how to operate your "smart phone" better, but also how...

Disney Skyliner shutdown and evacuation - October 6 2019

No. If they board the car, it's hot, and the window is not open or fully open they're going to adjust it. If it's cold they're going to close it. From experience people are not shy and I have a lot of experience riding lifts since I track my ski stats. I've taken 8,869 lift rides in the past 12...

Disney Skyliner shutdown and evacuation - October 6 2019

Take awhile? If you fully open all of the windows and vents you will IMMEDIATELY have the maximum amount of airflow. The airflow is determined based on the speed of the lift, the number of windows and vents that are open, and how much each is open.

Disney Skyliner shutdown and evacuation - October 6 2019

Windows and vents on a gondola car are controlled by the riders. If you like having them open and getting wet when it rains then leave them open. There are no rules. Most people use common sense. Operators are likely trained to open closed ones if observed just to keep the airflow.

Disney Skyliner shutdown and evacuation - October 6 2019

It's very clear that most of you don't know a lot about ski lifts and don't have a lot of experience riding them. Many gondolas that are built today DO NOT HAVE CABIN PARKING. In other words they don't remove the cabins from the line for weather events. If weather suddenly arrives Disney is...

Ketchup and Mustard Pumps Removed at Casey’s Corner

Including packets means you're often giving someone something they don't want or need. Lots of people don't like at least one of the condiments you mentioned and most won't mix all three, unless you're making fry sauce. Bulk by request is the least wasteful, even if unused product may go to...

Ketchup and Mustard Pumps Removed at Casey’s Corner

As a former F&B Director for a major movie theater chain I can tell you why most places don't use the Heinz dip & squeeze- it's because it's a very expensive condiment product. The ketchup in this packaging is priced typically 2 to 2.5 times more per ounce than tear packets. The chepest way to...

Magic Kingdom park-wide buyout on Oct 22

Not a chance! $200k! A buyout would cost about $1M an hour and my guess is the minimum would be several million. Disney would never discount their gate to that level for a private group when they could easily sell 25,000 tickets for a separate ticketed Halloween or Christmas event. Admission...

News Disney Skyliner operating status - October 2019

No word, but based on similar incidents on other ropeways it seems that operator error was likely. Aside from the incident forcing a shut down and requiring an evacuation, it really wasn't a big deal.

    Unsettling “security” checks.

Meth labs in Disney hotel rooms. You're very naive.

    Unsettling “security” checks.

It's not a perk, you're paying for it. I love housekeeping too.

    DLR 3rd gate possibilities

I'm well aware of what it was to include. Ground level retail, restaurants, etc. When you talk about hotel construction costs on a per room basis that includes the cost of common area spaces (lobby, restaurant, meeting rooms, pool, retail). Disney was spending twice the average, which accounts...

    DLR 3rd gate possibilities

You're out of your mind and clearly not knowledgable on construction costs when you argue that it would cost $750M to $1B to open the new hotel. Did it ever occur to you that the higher cost per room that Disney was going to pay versus the national average took into account things like union...

    DLR 3rd gate possibilities

Totally ridiculous! EPCOT is dying right now. Disney is having to rescue it from a certain death and your going to pitch us that Westcot should have been built. Ridiculous. California Adventure is actually a very good theme park. The only challenge it has is the overly critical Disneyland fan...

    DLR 3rd gate possibilities

No Darkbeer the lease was not reinstated. In fact your own source clearly states this fact since it explains the city negotiated a one year lease only keeping the team through 2020.

    DLR 3rd gate possibilities

Orlando and Southern California are very different markets. The business model that Universal uses in Orlando doesn't really apply to Southern California. I don't see the point in Universal building a one-off, stand-alone theme park away from their namesake park in Hollywood.

    DLR 3rd gate possibilities

Did you miss the fact that the team opted-out of their lease that ran through 2029 in October 2018, which effectively permits the team to leave after the 2019 season? The team separately negotiated a one-year lease for 2020. Leaving is very much still on the table.

    DLR 3rd gate possibilities

You can only say they're not leaving if they sign a new lease. If they don't sign a new lease then leaving remains a possibility. The city agreed to a one-year lease extension that keeps the team playing through 2020 in January. The lease extension doesn't invalidate the existing lease that...

Mickey's PhilharMagic coming to DCA this April

No it's not a shame. You don't bring back something that failed. Muppet Vision 3D is tired and dated. I enjoyed the show when I first saw it in 1999, but 20 years later...not so much. If Disneyland Resort is going to have a Muppets attraction then it needs to be something all new.
