On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

And 192.... as someone referred to “The Florida Project” movie, which is pretty accurate. Tho they cleaned up some for Hollywood. Economic hardship was a giant problem for front line CMs before this happened. Now? Yikes.

I see. Unless all of society magically overnight decides to get with the program, this isn’t ending anytime soon. I gotta believe it’s just a matter of time before the Christmas parties and candlelight are cancelled.

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

Correct. Us, as Disney fans have known how bad this could be when on JANUARY 25 Shanghai Disneyland closed. That should have been the sign to circle the wagons and get our public health Stuff together. Instead..... *looks around* ..... we’re discussing the ultimate what-ifs because they’re no...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

We’re on Magic at 3AM debating the economic future of the company. It really is 2004 all over again.

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

I’m trying to give people a light at the end of this tunnel, something to look forward to. Not all these OG members from 15+ years ago coming in and saying “We told you so” about the economic state of the company over the past 5-10 years. Trying to find the silver lining?

Everything service based. Hotels, restaurants, bars, etc. Any business that operates solely on its margins is at risk. Any company that spent like an addict on a coke bender and had nothing saved away in case the world ended. Just gotta test and isolate. Then contact trace and test and isolate...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

Well it’s not all doom and gloom. The parks will be fantastic to visit for anyone who’s there. MK & EPCOT are fantastic to tour at 1/4 capacity or less. Very, very enjoyable. The deals will be there once all this pandemic is over. Will the guests return to 20M/yr at MK? Not for a long time....

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

Its going to go on longer unless people get their act together. People are going to flip when they realize Christmas isn’t happening. You can forget Halloween. Target just cancelled Black Friday. The writing is on the wall and things are not getting better because this is something you simply...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

Depends on the money and what’s already been spent. I wouldn’t lose hope, I can see them launching a giant campaign in October 21 to celebrate the 50th at WDW. HOPEFULLY this will be over by then and we can begin cleaning up the mess.

The parks spinning off into their own company and operating under a licensing agreement like Tokyo & OLC might be the best possible thing long term. short term this is gonna suck.

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

Hey I’ve been back for two hours, I’m not gonna tear into anyone like the old days. I’ve changed. I look at the world differently. Medication and therapy are good things as well as other life changing issues. I came to grips that I’m pretty much Stuck at home for the rest of the year with...

My empathy for those that reject science and what’s happening ran out somewhere around March 74th.

I respectfully disagree. I admire your optimism tho. This pandemic won’t end until mid 21 / early 22. 9/11 was a speed bump compared to what’s happening and it took years for the guest level to return to what it was. Hell, there was a day in March 2004 when me and @mkt did all three mountains...

On layoffs, very bad attendance, and Iger's legacy being one of disgrace

I don’t talk to anyone inside anymore. Those days passed when I moved back to Virginia. But as someone who has watched this company since 2003? No. None of this is good. The ripple effects through the industry as well as the entire Florida economy letalone the local economy will be huge and...

Also, everyone saw UOR cut August hours today? CM blackout was pulled, they’re allowed back in. This is Beyond the worst case we imagined. Disney will survive, but the next few years are going to hurt.
