News Disney mask policy at Walt Disney World theme parks

I think I understand where you are coming from. The "two sides" are not being treated with the same level of respect. But the situation is completely different, so it's a false equivalency. I'll phrase it differently. Those who complained about wearing masks a year ago were told to suck it...

News Disney mask policy at Walt Disney World theme parks

The difference is those who continue to wear masks after being fully vaccinated are being overly cautious. Those who didn’t wear masks a year ago were being overly reckless. I would rather be driving on the road with a bunch of overly cautious drivers than a bunch of overly reckless drivers.

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

I was just going to PM you about this! But since you mentioned it on this thread, I might as well reply here. "Only old people die from Covid" depends on what you consider old. My twentysomething year-old children consider anyone over the age of 39 as old. ;) My point is, COVID deaths among...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Despite widespread coverage, the number of cases is not a particularly important metric. We would not have imposed lockdowns, mask mandates, social distancing, etc. if people were simply getting sick. The most important metric is deaths. Weeks ago on this thread, some of us discussed what was...

The thing is, experts have suggested many percentages. A December 15, 2020 article in NPR included the following passages: Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's senior official for infectious diseases, predicts the United States could begin to achieve early stages of herd immunity against the deadly...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

It's not a matter of knowing either way. It's a matter of whether you think people generally can be trusted or not. There always are some that abuse the system. However, I believe most (not all) people are good and will do the right thing. I believe in people. Do you?

And we know that how? I live in a heavily Republican county in Georgia with only 50% vaccinated. There are no mask mandates here. Still, perhaps 3 out of 4 people wear masks at stores. There always will be the 10% who break the rules but most people are good. Have some faith in others to...

Need help with a new trip - Using DVC or not?

I looked at this. A PVB Standard room requires 181 points to book for the week you requested. At $4,344.00, you are being charged $24 per point. Unless the DVC rental market has radically changed, that's an insane price. David's DVC Rental is charging $20 per point. That comes out to $3620...

Do we still need park reservations when back to full capacity??

Based on what Disney CEO Bob Chapek said on Monday at the J.P. Morgan Global Technology, Media And Communications Conference, Park Passes will remain for the foreseeable future. Chapek obviously does not see company value in Annual Pass Holders (APH): How do we want to emerge and how does that...

News Disney Park Pass System announced for Walt Disney World theme park reservations

Once WDW returns to normal operations, onsite Guests should have little difficulty getting a Park Pass. However, Chapek clearly does not like Annual Pass Holders, specifically APH who do not stay onsite. I suspect Park Pass is here to stay as a way to manage how many local APH get in the parks...

I live in a Republican county in Georgia and yet most people at Walmart, Target, Publix, etc. continue to wear masks. Maybe it was OK to drop some mitigations. Maybe most people will do the right thing.

News Disney mask policy at Walt Disney World theme parks

We just finished an awesome maskless 5-night stay at WDW! (Received our second dose a bit more than 4 weeks ago.) We are greatly looking forward to our next stay in July! It's really simple. Either you truly believe in the science or you don't. If you truly believe in the science and are...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Having been at WDW since they changed their mask requirement, I have not seen a misbehaving Guest, so far. “So far” is the key. The overwhelming majority of us at WDW booked our trips expecting to wear masks all the time. Give it a month or two when thousands who have not been wearing masks...

News Disney mask policy at Walt Disney World theme parks

The CDC announcement made corporate Disney's decision more palpable to the news media and general public. After all, we had a flood of major retailers announce major changes to their mask mandates within hours of the CDC change. Most of these announcements followed the guidelines announced by...

News Disney mask policy at Walt Disney World theme parks

In his original April 28 announcement, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings was asked if he had discussed his plans with local theme park operators (e.g. WDW, UO, and SeaWorld). His response was: Yes, we’ve had communication with them, they will make some adjustments. I believe that the...

News Disney mask policy at Walt Disney World theme parks

Having visited 3 WDW theme parks on the first maskless day (see my earlier photos on this thread), my takeaway is that Guests adopted quickly to Disney’s new policy. Guests followed rules and wore masks inside and once they entered the traditional start of attraction lines. Mask wearing was...
