    The Spirited Sixth Sense ...

Hate Twitter all you want (is it really so bad, or is it an easily pointed-to symptomatic element of society?), but one of the great things about social media is that it puts a spotlight on customer service complaints. Had I sent Frontier an email, I would have been blown off. By taking to...

    The Spirited Sixth Sense ...

I don't give the opinions of those who belittle HKDL much weight. I really enjoyed the place last year (it's no Tokyo...but what is?) and I'm putting my money where my mouth is: planning a return visit. The additional plans beyond what has been announced are no surprise, and that resort has a...

    Star Wars Weekends 2014

I think it would be a wise addition for Star Wars Weekends, especially given the crowds the event draws. The optimist in me hopes that they've temporarily removed it from the calendar so that they can make an official announcement before this spreads further as a rumor, but the pessimist thinks...

    Star Wars Weekends 2014

It was posted to the WDW PDF calendar a few days ago. (http://media.disneywebcontent.com/StaticFiles/DTA-Domestic/pdf/ParkHours/WDW_Operating_Calendar_June.pdf) If you view a cached version, you can see what I mean...

Magic Bands and Data Mining - 'Disney and the Meat Space Data Race'

I think there's a distinction between not liking the system (thus far, I don't) and conceding that, despite personal opinions, it might work to increase profits. A lot of the reasoning I see around here is more or less, "I don't like this system therefore it sucks and is a huge mistake." There...

Magic Bands and Data Mining - 'Disney and the Meat Space Data Race'

While not necessarily anything new, it's interesting to see commentary from someone who knows what he's talking about when it comes to data (for those unfamiliar MailChimp, it's a middle-of-the-road email marketing startup), and the article seems fairly balanced and unbiased. Hearing from...

Trip Report To Disneyland, with Love: A June 2013 Trip Report

Ah, sorry! That's what I get for not reading closely. Yeah, I agree completely with that! The Pan-Pacific turnstiles are lazy. As for the conversation between you and @sweetpee_1993 regarding maps, I also agree. Whenever we've gone to a new park, we've done the same. It's always by accident...

Trip Report *FINISHED* The "How did all these people get in here?" That's what she said Trip Report

It was the best prank ever...we were without power for over 2 days and our pipes almost froze! ...I think the only thing that saved us was pouring RV antifreeze in the toilets and drains. Both of our neighbors' pipes did freeze and burst.

Trip Report *FINISHED* The "How did all these people get in here?" That's what she said Trip Report

I think our last really good meal at Le Cellier was in 2010. Maybe 2009. Lunch in 2012 was just so-so. I'm sure we'll be back at some point just to give it another shot, but there are so many other places I'd rather try (especially in and around Epcot) that we just can't justify the price. I...

Trip Report *FINISHED* The "How did all these people get in here?" That's what she said Trip Report

Alright, read through the whole thing. Well, skipped through the uninteresting parts, places where you're whining about various things, and parts with your odd slang (I shouldn't have to bookmark urbandictionary.com to understand this report)...so I guess I only read about 5% of it...

I was holding out until I got you to return that lens you tried to steal from me!

Trip Report To Disneyland, with Love: A June 2013 Trip Report

Wow, it's been a while--it sounds like a lot has changed for your family! Congrats on everything! Great trip report thus far. You're definitely right about the closure of BTMRR sucking the atmosphere out of that part of Frontierland. I can't say I agree about Buena Vista Street, though. The...

    Frozen ride replacing Maelstrom?

I think you hit the nail on the head. I enjoy Maelstrom, but only because it's quotable, campy fun for which I have nostalgia. I can set that aside and look objectively at Maelstrom...and realize it's not a good attraction. Even in terms of promoting Norway, it's pretty poor. At the end of...

The Spirit Takes the Fifth ...

It sounds like you've already made up your mind, but another thing to consider is that internationally, you're likely going to be flying a 777 (or 787 depending upon your origin/destination) instead of a 737, etc. That makes all of the difference in the world. I'd rather take a 12 hour flight on...

The Spirit Takes the Fifth ...

Yes, I'd give up two years of visiting WDW to visit TDR once. As for the recommendation, I've already (more or less) made it. To quote myself from a couple of places in my Tokyo trip report... First installment: Last installment: Those are just two of many places where I make the...

The Spirit Takes the Fifth ...

No WDW this season. Will have spent more days in TDR than WDW at the end of the year. Sarah is pushing for DCL, but thus far it hasn't worked out. I'm wholly unwilling to pay rack prices, and whenever I've found a fairly deep discount, the dates haven't worked. I don't have any interest in...

The Spirit Takes the Fifth ...

Maybe I follow the wrong (or right, I guess?) people on Twitter, but I've seen a lot of this sentiment regarding Saving Mr. Banks, and not much of the 'it's cool' sentiment. I haven't seen Saving Mr. Banks, but I suspect it'll be a divisive movie among fans and wildly popular with the general...

The Spirit Takes the Fifth ...

Who mentioned it? I don't recall saying anything. Regardless, yes, we're heading to DLR for the weekend. Then NYC for next weekend. Both trips were booked via the method I mentioned recently. $140 RT for NYC and $110(!) for DLR. And, since we have a Companion Pass on Southwest, the fare is...

The Spirit Takes the Fifth ...

It's a start-up that was acquired by Google (for integration into Google Flight Search) a couple of years ago. Think of it as Kayak on steroids. Way more options, advanced codes, etc., for finding flights. I use a combination of it and Airfarewatchdog.com alerts. I receive a daily email...
