Would you visit Walt Disney World with these health-based operational restrictions in place?

The sample size continues to grow and the overwhelming outcome is a majority of people won’t attend WDW with the mask policy/restrictions in place. This would beg the question... at what attendance level can Disney achieve profitability? If roughly half of those planning to attend choose not to...

Do you think masks will be required at WDW when the state of Florida is in phase 3?

I could see that as a possibility if one of two things can be achieved: 1) continually low occurrence of hospitalizations and deaths 2) a widespread therapeutic. So far most states only have about 5000 doses of Remdesivir on supply and that’s not nearly enough to respond to another spike in...

    Masks at WDW

Dr Gottlieb just tweeted this regarding testing/positive cases. This is a good trend and if Disney’s strategy is to hold reopening until masks won’t be required for attendance they may be closer than many realize.

Would you visit Walt Disney World with these health-based operational restrictions in place?

I’d hate to say it but it’s probably better for Disney parks in the USA to remain closed until a “full” Disney experience would be achievable. Disney has hiked their prices several times over the last several years because their experience is second to none. The quality premium they received is...

Would you visit Walt Disney World with these health-based operational restrictions in place?

Disney will have zero issues with capacity given these absurd rules and reduction of offerings. I think we should refer to this time period as “Disney Lite.” Less calories and only half the fun!

Would you visit Walt Disney World with these health-based operational restrictions in place?

Question to those who voted “Yes”: Have you thought about the other effects that mask policy would have? Such as... no water parks, no resort pools, limited Disney transportation, and limited/no recreational options?

Would you visit Walt Disney World with these health-based operational restrictions in place?

0% chance I’m spending close to $10,000 to have that experience. The masks irk me but what irks me the most is no fireworks or parades. Why not still have the fireworks and parades and leave it up to the guests if they are comfortable attending? To always rule based off of the minority of...

    WDW Reopening Estimates

Yet another encouraging study. Herd immunity may be closer than originally estimated.

    WDW Reopening Estimates

Our economy in 1918 versus 2020 is like comparing an Apple Newton to today’s iPhone. Yes, those that took action in 1918 recovered faster but keep in mind that the economy was mostly industrial based. Today we live in a service based economy.

    WDW Reopening Estimates

Therapeutics are going to come into play first and most estimates have them available no later than this fall. This would help immensely for the at risk population and would also increase the public’s confidence in recovery from the virus.

    WDW Reopening Estimates

I think domestic travel rebounds significantly in 2021 but I think international travel could take until 2025 and obviously this couldn’t have come at a worse time for MCO given the recent expansion.

    WDW Reopening Estimates

I pray for the sake of the CMs and the central FL economy that Disney opens soon. Disney will be ok as a company but my concern is that the CMs and the central FL economy don’t have much shelf life left.

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Florida continues to run at a sub-10% positive rate which is a really good sign. Perhaps the virus doesn’t transmit very well in warm weather? 🤔 This is a great sign for the future reopening of the theme parks. If these rates continue for another week or so I wouldn’t be surprised if Disney...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Literally nobody knows the answer to your first question. We theorize that cases will spike again after we reopen but think about all the aspects we have gotten wrong to this point. Heck it wasn’t until just a few weeks ago that we discovered that asymptomatic carriers can actually spread the...

    WDW Reopening Estimates

Not necessarily. DL Paris with reduced capacity is probably not as feasible as WDW with reduced capacity. Just a hunch but I think this decision has less to do with COVID and more to do with profitability.

What will the experiences at the resorts be like post COVID?

I think by the end of May the conclusion will be reached that the COVID virus does not transmit nearly as well in hot and humid climates. This obviously will help significantly with the ability to reopen WDW. Obviously there will need to be similar protocols to Shanghai (maybe no mask...

    WDW Reopening Estimates

Interesting how Chapek stated that all other parks will follow the operating procedure that’s being put in place in Shanghai. I really like the “reservation only” attendance idea and firmly believe that guests that attend WDW under this procedure will really like how manageable the crowds are...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Research continues to point to the requirement of “prolonged exposure” in order to contract COVID. The odds of getting the virus from a random passerby are slim to none. Obviously, this is helpful given a lot of movement occurs at Disney Parks are very rarely would a guest be exposed to...

    WDW Reopening Estimates

We are talking about two completely different things. Yes, if you’re testing people for antibodies a 10% rate is incredibly high. Now if you’re testing people for COVID that are either: 1) showing symptoms 2) at risk or 3) came into close contact with a COVID case.. then a 10% positive COVID...

    WDW Reopening Estimates

10% is way too high? NY at their peak was hitting a nearly 55% positive:test rate. 10% is actually a very good threshold as it indicates the virus is NOT spreading rapidly.
