I recientally talked to a travel agent from CAA, and she said that in past years disney has offered specials to canadian guests. She said one year you could upgrade your park ticket to park hopper at no additional charge, she said they are usually available in the spring around the time i want to go (may).
I was just wondering are these announced when the packages are realsed or later on??

Your CAA agent should have told you there is an offer out right now, and has been for a while. I would get a new agent :)

"Free Ticket Upgrade Offer when you purchase this 5-night/6-day Vacation package at a select Disney Value Resort with theme park tickets. From $512 per adult. Book a Disney Magic Your Way Package for travel March 30 - May 21, 2008 and receive a free Ticket Upgrade on the Magic Your Way Base ticket. Upgrade includes the Park Hopper Option and Water Park Fun & More Option! HURRY! Book by March 21!"

FYI: You can also get the ticket upgrade for packages at Moderate and Deluxe resorts (but at an obviously higher price).

I'm not a Canadian, but I'll be happy to answer your question.

Just like we offer special discounted room and ticket offers to Florida Residents, from time to time Disney may have special offers exclusively for Canadian Residents. These special offers are advertised in local newspapers, magazines, and TV commercials. Your local Travel Agents should also be aware of any exclusive Canadian offers. You may even be able to see them advertised on our website if you access www.disneyworld.com from Canada and are using a Canadian IP provider.

In the past we have marketed special ticket upgrade offers, Canada "At Pare" offers saving you the difference in exchange rates and other special promotions from time to time. Like all promotional discount offers, the number of rooms and packages available are very limited, and once they sell out they are gone.

Any discount offer will have specific travel dates and booking dates, and other restrictions may apply. There is no special time of year when they are offered, but can be released at anytime.

Remember at least one Adult (age 18+) in the room must show proof of Canadian residency at check-in to be eligible for these offers.

There really wont be anything called an "At Pare" discount anytime soon, because the Canadian dollar is actually "At Par" with the US dollar right now, give or take a penny at the moment. ($.0175 difference today.) Thats a 1.75% discounts to our neigbors to the north (south from my Fellow Detroiters)

I think JP was just using that as an example of one of the types of deals that Disney has offered us Canadians in the past.

My mom and I actually were able to take advantage of a great deal one year. This was before Disney changed to the MYW packages. It was a 5+2 package. Pay for 5 nights and get 2 nights free. It was only offered to Canadians and we were flying down on the last day the package was being offered and we were able to take advantage. It saved us a bundle on our trip. We got 7 nights at the WL for the price of 5.:sohappy:

Thats not fair, I live just as far as the Canadians, can't I get the same discounts they do? ......I am only 15 minutes from Canada, if I set up a PO box, can I get Canadian Discounts? I know, I am just kidding, but why does Disney Give incentives to Canadians that are better offers than We can Get in the US?

That's the same as asking why Florida residents get discounts, why UK visitors get free dining, and why military get SOG.

Usually, and this year has been the exception, our dollar is so low as compared to the USD that for a lot of families it is just too expensive. Add in airfare from Canada (easily $1000 per person west of Toronto during peak times and holidays) and a Disney World vacation is really unaffordable to many families. We don't have discount airlines like AirTran, Southwest, etc. My own flight in two weeks is now priced at $1500 (for one person).

So most of the time, US residents do get the better deal.
