Anything new that justifies bumping a 13-year-old thread?![]()
Better than starting a new one? I've always wondered why people frown on older threads being bumped? If somebody wants to talk about something already discussed before (happens multiple times, weekly if we're being honest) there's no complaints but people always comment when an old thread resurfaces. If there's no interest in the topic anymore if will just fade away, if there is then surely that justifies the bump?Anything new that justifies bumping a 13-year-old thread?![]()
I don’t disagree. But by many accounts The Adventurer’s Club became intolerable as the years went on. I couldn’t imagine the locals camping out there each night thinking they were part of the act. It’s a shame we couldn’t keep comedy warehouse and adventurers club. Both could have survived with separate admission charges.
Kungaloosh!!!!
I went towards the ending of it's life a few times and there were definitely guests there who tried to be funny and just made it a bit cringey. I have no way of knowing how often they went or whether they were local but some certainly thought they were part of the act. Perhaps it was just bad luck and I just was there on the nights they were and it was coincidental, though it did feel like a shift in behaviourI don’t disagree. Not my idea. The TOS says older threads shouldn’t be bumped unless you have something of value to add. I’m assuming that doesn’t mean repeating what’s already been said.Better than starting a new one? I've always wondered why people frown on older threads being bumped? It's attractive to us for the dining, the sometimes decent entertainers who play around the area, the Aerophile baloon and the Lego store and World of Disney. Disney certainly could have done something more to bring more variety to the site for those who aren't interested in shopping. But I'm certain it brings in tons of money from the shoppers cleaning out their wallets.Wife and I always enjoyed Pleasure Island ---Now never go---now outdoor mall
Well in fairness the post added was offering a unique and personal experience to the topicNot my idea. The TOS says older threads shouldn’t be bumped unless you have something of value to add. I’m assuming that doesn’t mean repeating what’s already been said.
I think the moderators are capable of deciding whether the thread should have been bumped or started afresh. I only say this as the other day I was looking forward to my upcoming trip in September this year and fancied discussing using a boat at Disney and chatting about it with anyone interested.I was a member for years. As you know, Pleasure Island (PI) was an ADULT-ONLY Disney, open from 9PM to 2AM - - until Disney started allowing those under 21 years old (NOT adult age) to enter unaccompanied. These punks destroyed everything and thought it was funny to run into people and knock them down. I got knocked down 2 or 3 times ... after that, I never went back, as did many regulars. PI was my favorite Disney place, and I went 2-3 times a week. My favorite places were the Jazz Club, Mannequins, the Comedy Club, and the outdoor staging areas. I once danced the twist on-stage with Chubby Checker. Saw many musical stars there - all in person and walking around. Whatever Disney says, they do not tell the whole truth - - that being they allowed under-adult-age kids in - totally against their own rules - who were frustrated that they could not get into most of the venues as they were too young - - so they destroyed the place... and then Disney shut it down. so sad. I truly miss Pleasure Island!!

While I absolutely loved this style of comedy - it would also be an issue with social media and cell phones. The nature of improv means you’ll end up saying things that cross the line sometimes.I went towards the ending of it's life a few times and there were definitely guests there who tried to be funny and just made it a bit cringey.
Hmmmm possibly it could. Although the Citizens of Hollywood were often filmed and didn't refrain from some 'adult humour'. Betty Shambles would often remark about how she'd like to "Land him like a 747" when playing the blind date game and referring to a male from the crowd. There's also a "99 somethings went into a bar" video on Youtube when somebody suggests 'crabs' and one of the cast pretends to start itching his groin area. Another time a man is sat down on a chair playing the blind date game and his young daughter has her head in his lap only for Betty Shambles to shout "I want to do that" and points to his daughterWhile I absolutely loved this style of comedy - it would also be an issue with social media and cell phones. One of the reasons I loved Disneys style of improv is - the standard was G rated with the occasional crossing into pg or pg-13.
But posting clips online would definitely be an issue I think :-/
Oh for sure! But social media is very different now vs. pre-Covid.Although the Citizens of Hollywood were often filmed and didn't refrain from some 'adult humour'.
One of the reasons I try to see the frozen sing along show! If you get her or Lisa from Comedy Warehouse you’re in for an extra good show!I used to look forward to seeing Betty Shambles
Stand up comedy has gained in popularity to the point that one can find venues everywhere. In our city there are spots that feature comics weekly and there are groups that promote comic nights for fund raisers. Everyone is hoping to be " discovered" and get their big break and land a special on HBO or other site. No longer is your big break coming from an appearance on Johnny. The quality varies greatly. While I absolutely loved this style of comedy - it would also be an issue with social media and cell phones. Then threads past a certain age/date should be locked. Otherwise, they are fair game to post on.Not my idea. The TOS says older threads shouldn’t be bumped unless you have something of value to add. I’m assuming that doesn’t mean repeating what’s already been said.
Like I said, it’s not my idea. I assume they’re still open for those who may have new information or something of value to add other than repeating what other posters said decades ago. Then threads past a certain age/date should be locked. Otherwise, they are fair game to post on.
