Splash Mountain / Tian’a Bayou Adventure also goes to an outdoor load area to start a ride that moves between indoors and outdoors. It doesn’t go from indoor queue to outdoor queue to indoor queue to entirely indoor ride.

Yeah, I didn't mean to imply that the site work is finished, by any means. I'm saying that they've "had site work done" there, as it's clearly not finished at either of the two areas, and Piston Peak is still expected by 2029, as far as I know.

Construction timelines actually typically start from the moment that they've broken ground, and land is being cleared, and then the site prep work begins. We're already well into that stage, is what I was getting at, as the land was cleared at least a couple of months ago, and yes, they're prepping both areas, with Piston Peak already getting some structural materials put in, but I think that land is also aparently going to need much more water management work.

There's actually no evidence that the actual land of Villains Land (or whatever it's going to actually be called) , has changed in any significant way. Even if Len was correct, he could have meant that the contents of the attractions themselves, and not the physical land, which will consist of multiple show buildings and what looks like LOTS of set props and rock work. Time will tell.

I hope they take all the time they need to actually get it right...and not deliver a land with minimal attractions and theming... Pandora is nice, but it feels short on attractions...Always did. I think Villains Land will probably taker longer, but at this point we really don't even know for sure what we are getting... I am sure hoping it is a slam dunk...and not a value engineered one-and-done attraction with a gift shop and snack stand....

I'd be down for a new queue and facade to HM. The cartoony graveyard, the green canopy, and entering the house via a random side door below the foundation are all missteps. Add to that the Frozen bathrooms killing off any build up to the facade from that area.

Now, if only they could move the Hatbox Ghost to a place where he actually makes sense...

It sounded like you were dismissing the possibility that the new structure would be for the HM queue, though I apologize if that’s not what you were implying. My point is simply that regardless of whether it is good queue design, it wouldn’t be out of character for Disney.

If you don’t like the TBA analogy, a more apt example would be this very ride as it stands today. The queue starts under an awning, then goes outside, then inside. Now that they aren’t constrained by the presence of RoA, it makes sense that they would want to reroute the queue and replace the temporary covering eyesore with something more permanent and better themed. Normally if you wanted to increase indoor queue space, you could just extend from the entrance. But in the case of HM, they obviously don’t want to obstruct views of the facade or compromise the entry into the mansion, so they have to settle for a disjointed segment of indoor queue.

Of course I’m not 100% sure that that’s what’s happening, but it seems to me like the most plausible outcome.

Did any of the buildings change locations? It's practically the same layout, and someone on here already told me not to read to much into these building footprint parts of these submissions into water management, as they don't require them to be as precise or complete, (unlike the water path locations) but yeah, I've noticed all of the changes. Especially that the show building for Villains got bigger as well as this one next to HM getting smaller, and looking more like what I now suspect is a queue entrance, since it was one of the things that convinced me that it's less likely to be a shop, lounge, or restaurant.

I honestly think that a lot of "getting it right" happens in the planning phase, and really ironing everything out first. My favorite land at Epic is Wizarding Paris, not just because of the sheer scale of it, but the execution and level of detail everywhere you look. I'm not even a HP fan (but big on Uni Monsters), but just walking around the streets of 1920s Paris is absolutely remarkable, down to the correct paving stone imprints. They delivered on everything except for a 2nd ride, but that's still cooking... Competition is really a great thing!

Pandora delivers on everything for me for the land itself, but the boat ride is just way too short, and limits the time spent with tangible things to do while there. I'm glad that they are going with a more immersive boat ride in DL. If they can also get a flight of passage in there, then that would feel like a more complete land, with 2 E-ticket rides. Maybe they could eventually add a 3rd attraction to AK?

I thought I remember reading something about a third attraction planned for Pandora that was cut from the final plans...a ground coaster type thing through the forest or something like that....it was vague.....but the land could really have used that third attraction.....

Bike coaster (like Tron) derivative was supposed to be the headline attraction. Not sure if here was the first place it was mentioned, but in this post @marni1971 describes the gist of it...

Innovative ride system (bike derivative), indoor and outdoor show scenes, show stops. Details were patchy but I recall being sadly told some time ago that the anchor E was being axed. That left a D simulator style ride and an indoor D rapids ride.

The water management permits for this project don’t have any building footprints on them because they change the entire park to assume it is one large impervious surface.

The building footprints are not a core part of the sewer and water service permits which only means changes to them don’t typically require resubmitting for the permit so long as it doesn’t change the actual focus of the permit. They still represent the building footprint as it existed when the drawings were prepared.

Been hearing plans for a 3rd attraction there in the future that pulls from the later movies.

I'm always a bit leary about filling all the space of a land in the initial build. While guests will always want more at the time of their visit, the company needs to ensure there is capacity to add at a later date with new experiences that can take advantage of later entries in a franchise or new technology.

If it was up to the guests, all the expansion pads at the MK would have been filled 20 years ago.

20 years ago would have been good....30 would have been better...we would have still had some old guard Imagineers around...and the projects might not be value engineered to death....
