DAK Tropical Americas Land Construction Thread

I forgot that this is also a dedicated construction thread that is actually not a dedicated construction thread (sarcasm).

The much longer Encanto / Indy thread. Search for Lens (lentesta)posts in that thread for the most specific info. I can’t remember if Martin (marni1971) posted some info as well.
Thanks again. I did try searching for the answer via either Google or Bing, and did not get the answer I was looking for, so I'm grateful that this form can be the kind of resource for shared information that I was hoping that it would be. I guess I just need to do more digging and catching up. Cheers!

Yes, there will be an Encanto ride.

There's been some insider info on the type of ride 'leaked.' But that keeps changing, so, nothing's confirmed for sure.
I was reading between the lines on their response, and assuming that they meant ride type, and not that the ride itself being confirmed, but I admittedly had to read it twice before I got the question.

Disney often gives broad strokes as to what's coming, usually in the form of a name and very very vague and unreliable concept art.

Disney rarely keeps us updated about construction until they get to the point of starting to test the ride internally. That leaves a huge gap in information. Then we get people who are impatient being petulant about not being kept apprised of every step of the way, and the disgruntled claiming the lack of news is a sign that something's wrong.

We don't know stuff and we won't know stuff for maybe a year to come. It's Disney's way. They aren't being mean to fans by being silent, and they aren't in trouble.

I'm aware of this secrecy game, and I can completely understand the reasons why they would want to keep these details private until they are ready to officially reveal any specifics, and keep as much as close to the vest as possibly until the ride actually opens. I did not even follow much on Galaxy's Edge, even though I'm a really big Star Wars fan, but I followed Epic Universe's construction pretty closely, and they played the same game. I do think that some surprises are actually still a good thing. However, I do admit to being a little impatient, myself. 😁 Plus I just wanted to make sure that I did not miss something obvious that was shared. I will take any rumors or leaks with a grain of salt.

Thank you for the response!

You should go to this thread to post any questions:

That one is for speculation and other topics unrelated to construction.

If studio lighting is wrong for the application, then wouldn't that also indicate that that indoor ride lighting is also not correct for the scene?
Show lighting still involves a lot of art direction in the field. The scenic fabrication facility is going to have lighting for a variety of tasks and will likely be working on multiple projects. Building a true mock-up space would mean building a lot of the ride. Natural light is going to be a lot brighter, but it is also a lot more consistent than artificial lighting in different places with different fixtures. It’s the best thing available as a neutral constant.

Thanks. That's a really good point! Especially if they either don't yet already have a good idea of how they are going to light it on the ride itself, so it's probably best to start with neutral lighting.

I can also now see a scenario where they are trying to mimic the brighter lights that they plan on using for the aforementioned rainforest canopy scene on the ride, which they may not have that intensity at the studio. I'm now kind of doubting that they would want the inconsistency of natural light on the ride itself, even though it works for a certain Epcot place. I'm not sure that the same thing would work for a more artificial environment where you want more control and less variance or even potential maintenance issues.
