I think it’s pretty neat to get to see some unthemed backstage from the Skyliner. It’s a cool peek behind the curtain for those interested in how these parks are designed. it’s why I love driving by the backstage area that is visible from the street behind GE, iasw, and Toon Town at Disneyland.

You don’t think they could have done a different Eiffel Tower?

The Eiffel Tower in the France pavilion pre-dates the Skyliner. Once the Skyliner was built to go through that area they would have had to remove it completely in order for it not to look ridiculous as you are flying by.

Something isn’t impossible just because you can’t imagine how it might be done.

Certain things are, imagination doesnt change the laws of physics.

Nope. You would still see the Eiffel Tower from a position without forced perspective.

The Eiffel Tower is there now with a new facade sitting right below it. It has nothing to do with the Ratatouille building abruptly switching to being a warehouse.

Agreed....and actually, in my opinion.....makes one appreciate just how well an area can be made to feel unique (for lack of a better word)

Bio is posting new Monsters aerials:

Earlier they had stripped the entry pillars, but have since demolished them. Hopefully that means something more grand as was seen in the earlier concept art. Note on the left of MuppetVision where bricks have been removed for faux windows.

Seriously, that is such a huge distance from the outline of the que building to the edge of what is being turned into Monsters Land. I know that ride will be super popular and have long lines....Im hoping a majority of the que is indoors like GotG or something and not just out in the parking lot in the baren sun lol. I also hope they add a lot of filler stuff to block views and make the space interesting because it. is. a. very. long. walk.

If they were even somewhat intelligent, they would have expanded Pixar Place and have this show building on the former backlot site which is now TSL It would have been a far more effective use of the land. and also, keeping the Earful Tower and Muppets. These people have no vision.

I don’t think the walk will be as long as most people on here seem to think. It looks far because it’s currently bare space.

Is the walk from the back of the land to the ride going to be longer than the walk from TSL walkway back to Slinky? Doesn’t appear very much different using in exact measurement technique. Slinky doesn’t seem like a. Very. Long.

While I totally agree with that, I think this building is just so massive not sure it would have fit anywhere over on that side feasibly anyway. What they should have done, if were going to play lol, was bring over the monsters inc dark ride so families who don't like coasters or too young to ride could experience together, and have the coaster, for a complete land. But no, everything now has to be only the biggest most expensive monstrosity and most high tech, to sell those LL's.

I guess my question would be how that would work from a storytelling perspective?

If the dark ride is the book report of the film, then what is the surrounding land? When does it take place? What is the coaster? Where does it fit into that? Is the dark ride meant to be something that is happening in “real time” in the universe of the land?

None of these are important questions for a theme park land. It’s the kind of fans-only deep lore that has proved disastrous for modern lands like SWL.

Generations of guests have had no difficulty understanding why Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs are meeting and greeting a few feet away from the ride in which they feature or why a Germany-based Snow White ride is right next to an England-based Toad ride.
