i'm not an iger hater by any stretch of the imagination but i think a disney legend award on top of all of the self-congratulatory hoopla he's already been given is excessive

This.

Iger getting a ‘Disney Legend’ award after …all of this…..seems ….well, excessive and self congratulatory.
Smacks of a level of self righteousness that has yet to be seen.

Just wow.

On a more positive note, YAY ERIC GOLBERG!
THE only person on the list I feel truly earns and deserves this title and worthy of joining the ranks of a true ‘Disney Legend’.

Wholeheartedly agree on those two. I love Anne Hathaway but I don't feel she's a "Disney Legend". The Jonas Brothers are... a choice. Yeah, they had the Disney Channel show but I don't think a ton of people consider them "Disney".
I give her a pass only because Disney probably wants to use her for something and this is an easy way to keep her on a legacy contract for years and get her into a serious movie for 20th Century once every couple of years. The Jonas crew well... It wouldn't surprise me if like Miley It was because they were heading back to Disney for record releases, and frankly, they aren't the worst choice that could have been made. My sources have more or less confirmed that Disney couldn't get agreements with the High School Musical folks (interpersonal drama mostly), so they likely filled that slot.
Re: Legends. This year seems awfully predictable.

I wish I had vocalized that I thought Iger would be named, but I decided the less crass decision would be to do it in 2028.

He ultimately deserves a legends award.

Not sure why there is any opposition to Lin, he also is overdue. Far more transient contributors have received the award when their original projects were far less old. Lin has covered ?six eight nine! major franchises successfully for them now. Jonas brothers are a substitute for the slot Miley Cyrus filled.

The oddity of this years lineup is how celebrity they all are. I feel it’s missing a heartfelt story front line lifer.
Lin... I don't think the board would allow me to say why I dislike him the most. But otherwise I think he is a relatively mediocre writer, not that great of a singer or actor, and is effectively being given the award as a "thanks for making us a ton of money" participation trophy. Disney doesn't even own the Hamilton musical (or any of Lin's other Broadway works), which make the films he's worked on with Disney rather insignificant in comparison. (And no the streaming version doesn't count.) I mean I can't object to Disney giving it to him because arguably he deserves it on the basis of being successful with Disney, but I would have preferred someone else to get it.

Fair enough and I certainly know very little about him personally. It’s a lot of franchises though and 2/4 of WDAS most successful ones from the last 20 years.

Generally it feels more cynical when it’s either a marketing stunt or it’s dubious whether the person is actually a brand ambassador or just a big name to give the award to. Something that sort of seems important in capturing the spirit of the award. He seems to be far more into “the brand” than many of their other past/present recipients. I’m just surprised he made a bunch of people’s short lists.

Several of these people are fairly strong brand ambassadors so I don’t feel it’s a weak short list as being undeserving. He was on my list of before this release of people I thought would get one.

The other thing I had thought about a while ago and I suppose we should be thankful for to avoid the drama is I figured there’d be a real possibility for a Kennedy-Iger double header.

Goldberg is frankly the only person on that list who deserves it especially seeing as he is one of the few legitimate animators left who actually uses paper and pencil rather than a computer at WDAS.

His ethnicity? His political views? His religion?
His relationship with certain... controversial figures in Puerto Rico.

Kennedy was never going to get it, not anytime soon. That would have caused an outrage bigger than if they gave it to Chapek.

Is the seating variable pricing? The price chart doesn’t say. Is that the higher price or the lower price on the chart?

Nope, it’s essentially the same chart and sections as last time. The price is based on the section you book and is not variable within a given section. Pricing didn’t change on top or bottom end, surprisingly. The worst price change is sections 107-109.

I’d argue that Jerry Bruckheimer is pretty deserving on the live action front. He produced almost 30 films for Disney including massive hits like National Treasure, Armageddon, Remember the Titans, and the Pirates of the Caribbean films.

Interesting to note that the seating chart @DCBaker Posted they forgot to add section 300. It wasn’t used last time (reviewing a video there was a smattering of 4-10 people in each section). Definitely they wasted space.

Seem like they edited that old seating chart and made a mistake.

Depending on how much of section 300 is added it could represent significantly more seats.

I do like National Treasure and while I liked the first Pirates movie initially, if I had a magic wand that would make the movies never having happened and the ensuing messing up of the attraction that resulted from it, I would do it in a heartbeat.
