MK Cars-Themed Attractions at Magic Kingdom

Even when that “stuff” was something that guests of all ages and abilities can enjoy together?
Yes. Look, if ROA stayed, I wouldn’t care. But with it going we get a new attraction, that I find more appealing. I can’t see any need for TS Island in 2026. In 1986, sure. The Liberty Belle was fun, we did it once. But, unless you go so often that you are just sightseeing and having lunch, it’s a time suck on an active day of doing things. I am looking forward to Cars.

Yes? I did not enjoy the attractions and I would assume plenty others did not. Disney said that there would be an attraction that everyone in the family can enjoy.

All abilities can enjoy? What are you refering to? The riverboat sure? You can ride a similar boat all day in the ferry back and forth to the Magic Kingdom imo.

TSI was known to not be accessible. In fact here is a blurb from a Disney blog designed to talk about the experience for people with disabilities on the island.

Special Needs & Additional Info: Strollers are not permitted on the Island. There is a stroller parking area before you get on the raft. Though wheelchairs are permitted on the raft, the activities on the island are not accessible. Only the raft and space within about about 20 yards of the island dock are wheelchair accessible. You must be ambulatory to experience the island. ECVs are not allowed to ride the raft to the island. You must transfer to a wheelchair. For power wheelchair users, in most cases queues and rides that allow wheelchairs also allow most power wheelchairs. See the Cast Member at the attraction for your options.

Idk if a boat ride largely the same as the one to get in the park and "20 yards of space" is exactly something I would call fun for all abilities and worth taking up 14 acres of land but sure.

Tell people you’re just a ride commando without saying you’re just a ride commando.

I like attractions of all types and sightseeing specific stuff. I think certain lands just look really nice especially at night. I was not impressed all that much with the ROA, I'm not sure why that's some forbidden art right there. Like I have to be impressed by a quarter width river of what I have at home? It just didn't look all that special to me, plenty of parks have a river.

Running from one flashy thing to the next because you can’t sit still and appreciate the beauty of the rivers is exactly why Disney’s magic is being wasted on this generation. Attention spans these days are pathetic. The riverboat and island aren’t filler. They’re the care, craft and storytelling that actually make Disney special from other places. But subtlety and patience are too much work for people who can’t slow down. Lightning Lane is ruining the patience of people to the point where the beauty of the Rivers of America became a true afterthought. Such a shame. It is all just another amusement park, and that’s on them.

Have fun rushing to grab another paid Lightning Lane. Don’t be shocked when the general crowds are even more impatient and entitled once these new experiences open.

What is the implication here? That one is a completed area and beautiful and one is a massive construction zone and is not beautiful?

Is there not a chance that, when completed, these two new areas could be just as, or even exceed, the beauty of that area in Disneyland Paris?
There is statistically a chance as it is not completed yet. I think it’s unlikely this will be as beautiful as DLP.

I really don't think it's fair to insult the way people chose to enjoy the parks and especially insult an entire generation for doing things different from you.

I'm probably one of the people you think Disney is wasted on and have no attention span simply because when I'm at disney I'm jumping from ride to ride to show and never really sit to take in my suroundings...

However, that doesn't mean I'm incapable of doing that... I just don't do it at Disney. Lets face it... Disney is EXPENSIVE, so when I'm paying the big bucks, I prefer to do things I can only do at Disney (the attractions). My other favorite vacations are beach vacations, where I sit on the beach and basically do nothing but "appreciate the beauty" all day without the $200 entrance fee.

If you want to go to Disney and take it slow and relax... all the power to you and I hope you have a magical time there. However, just because someone does a vacation different does NOT mean they are doing it wrong. I think it's just inherent that the older generation always thinks the younger generation is ruder and has a smaller attention span.

That goes both ways though - doesn’t it?

Not that I’m particularly old…. I just act like it! Haha. Give me my steamboat, steam train, ragtime piano and barbershop quartet! Haha

So why was the boat ride there in 1971? Cause Herb Ryman was a bad designer?

And back then there actually was a steamboat ride on the 7 seas lagoon.
Funny to act like 1971 MK just had perfect design all around when Tomorrowland was always… ya know.

I mean if you don’t want kids in wheelchairs to be able to play in MKs only play place, just say it. I’d rather them tear it down and build something newer and more inclusive elsewhere

That’s a rather awful take with no purpose other than to baselessly denigrate someone. Nothing prevented Tom Sawer Island from being made more accessible.

I’m 24, so let’s not turn this into the usual ‘older generation vs younger generation’ excuse. This isn’t about age. It’s about mindset.

No one’s saying you’re wrong for running ride to ride, but when that becomes the dominant way people experience the parks, it absolutely changes what Disney builds and prioritizes. That’s how you end up with less atmosphere, less detail, and more emphasis on Lightning Lane. Also less clean parks.

When people treat Disney like a $200 ride marathon, of course those elements that made it once great start disappearing.

So yeah, enjoy it however you want, but don’t be surprised when the parks start feeling more like any other amusement park. That shift doesn’t happen out of nowhere.

And honestly, if your whole Disney day is planned around sprinting from one attraction to the next, that’s not even a vacation anymore—that’s a schedule. People love to complain about how stressful Disney is, but then build an experience that’s nothing but stress. That mindset is exactly what takes away from everything the parks are actually designed to offer. You are giving Disney more amo to make it a more stressful experience.

And yeah. Sometimes I do have a problem with the way some people run their Disney trips. When your ‘vacation’ turns into a nonstop sprint, it creates stressed, impatient, and entitled behavior, especially toward cast members when something doesn’t go your way, like missing a Lightning Lane.

That’s not harmless, it affects everyone around you.

Add in the drinking culture getting worse at EPCOT, and it’s pretty clear some people are choosing to turn the parks into something they were never meant to be. Not saying it’s entirely Disney’s fault, but this marathon, maximize-every-second mindset is absolutely part of the problem and it’s dragging the experience down with it.
