I agree, no excuse and it’s ridiculous it’s not fixed/changed whatever! You are right, @MisterPenguin , there is NO EXCUSE for the ground lighting to still be broken.

Again, If you want every ride to be open at all times try to avoid Disneyland because you will likely be disappointed.Frankly I want Big Thunder open yesterday!
I feel for all the folks who attempted to schedule their very expensive WDW vacation in the spring hoping to be one of the first to ride Big Thunder!
Hoping for the best for all the folks that have their WDW vacation in the spring and summer!![]()
I have never been to Disneyland.Again, If you want every ride to be open at all times try to avoid Disneyland because you will likely be disappointed.
As many times as I have pushed back on some of your posts, I do want to tell you I enjoy your enthusiasm. This response not specific to post above but I just wanted to tell you that.I have never been to Disneyland.
I am hoping, ONE RIDE, Big Thunder, in MK will open as soon as possible.
I feel for folks who paid the big bucks for a WDW vacation and tried to time it for when Disney announced Big Thunder would be open.
I never expect to ride every ride anywhere, anyplace at any time.
Does anyone expect every ride to be open anywhere at any time?
The families who purchase the massively expensive LLPPs probably have an expectation to ride every ride.
As far as we are aware, it's still opening this Spring?I have never been to Disneyland.

Oh I thought all the cuts made to the EPCOT renovation that resulted in the ugly planter and the low quality ground lighting that is now broken, was due to cuts made because COVID.
Apparently I was mistaken, but I was not trying to make stuff up.
You are right, @MisterPenguin , there is NO EXCUSE for the ground lighting to still be broken.
It’s true that the in-ground lighting exists at all because of the re-work of the area due to cuts that resulted from COVID. That does not mean that the lightning not working is because of COVID.
OK, ok, it’s not because of COVID.
I publicly promise to everyone I will never again blame anything currently happening on COVID going forward
I have not seen any recent statements where Disney blames anything currently happening on COVID. Please do not say I am stating a false fact here as I simply have not heard Disney blame anything currently happening on COVID.
Personally, I think any company that uses COVID as an excuse in 2026 is using a poor excuse.
We all agree, there is no excuse why the ground lighting is broken and it should be fixed.
EDIT: Ya know, I have complained a million times about the COVID excuse but now that I am saying there is no excuse for the ground lighting being broken I strangely feel I am being harder on TWDC now than I was about them using the COVID excuse.
There is no winning I guess![]()
Yes… one of the major side effects of catching Covid is designing ugly planters!!! Common knowledge! We’ve simply said that the current design of the spine is due to budget cuts from Covid.
Ok, ok, ok, none of the current happenings can be blamed on COVID.What James said. No one is excusing the situation with the lights, but you’ve been equating their failure to us blaming Covid for the past ten pages when we haven’t stated that once. We’ve simply said that the current design of the spine is due to budget cuts from Covid. That speaks nothing of its functionality, or lack thereof.
And then you go and do it again. No one is blaming current happenings on Covid. You’re misconstruing what many are saying by stating we are blaming the broken lights on Covid, which no one is.
Personally, I have no faith this will open in the spring for reasons. It doesn’t matter why.As far as we are aware, it's still opening this Spring?
If you want to make sure you're there and "time" a trip for a general Spring opening, you would plan to go in Summer or Fall... not mid Spring? Anyone who does something otherwise is just kinda an idiot. It's opening sometime between now and memorial day is all we can infer.
People who purchase LLPP should get that not every ride will be running all the time. That is how every theme park across America works. If you're crying about LLPP and not being able to ride BTMRR and Buzz, you really shouldn't be going to any theme parks because all major theme parks will usually have SOMETHING shut down at points in the year.
Why not also cry when Rip Ride Rockit is down and the replacement has barely begun being built? Or when they decided to shut down an entire land at IOA except for food? What about when Shrek 4D went down? Or when any of the water rides get their refurbs? Better close up EU when Stardust is still under refurb!
It just makes no sense to expect every ride to always be open at once. You're going to have closures no matter how much you paid. You have like 20 other attractions you can go to.
Thanks. Hopefully some day I will go there. As many times as I have pushed back on some of your posts, I do want to tell you I enjoy your enthusiasm. This response not specific to post above but I just wanted to tell you that.
I miss me some Big Thunder too.
I hope you get to Disneyland one day, it’s worth a visit. Some things better, some worse. The forum here would make you think every ride there is better, it’s not.
Hey its a fellow sea lionY'all, I'm going from May 2nd to the 14th. It will reopen on the 15th. You're welcome![]()
Well Disney did just confirm it will open this spring nowPersonally, I have no faith this will open in the spring for reasons. It doesn’t matter why.
I KNOW there will be attractions down when I visit. I EXPECT attractions to be down when I visit. When you think about this it is sad but unavoidable. It truly is a cr@p shoot.
Let’s hope no one is planning their WDW vacation around Disney’s announced Spring opening of Big Thunder.
Of course it will! I said it would…Well Disney did just confirm it will open this spring now
I'm happy that my guess of mid-June was wrong.Of course it will! I said it would…
Never bought the supposed delay to summer.
Nice! With a little luck, I'll be able to ride it after I get off the Wish on May 8. I won't count on it since "early May" can legitimately cover the 1st half of the month, but it would be nice.Disney says Big Thunder Mountain Railroad reopens early May 2026:
And that’s not all the fun Magic Kingdom has to offer during Cool KIDS’ SUMMER, as finishing touches are in progress at Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. The attraction will reopen with new magic and the shine and polish of an all-over refurbishment in early May.
Well Disney did just confirm it will open this spring now
Don't go to Disneyland, you might accidentally discover why long thorough refurbs are a good thing. What a bad job by Disney. The amount of headline rides down over spring break is completely unacceptable.
