MK Big Thunder Mountain to receive full retrack

The discussion was about possible Big Thunder delays @gorillaball , mentioned the tunnel rumor, I took that as maybe there was some sort of correction needed in the Big Thunder project that may be causing the delay, at least that is the way I interpreted it, "a possible mistake, or oversight made in the Big Thunder project that may be causing a delay", not a lack of planning and nothing to do with the tunnel specifically.

In a later post @gorillaball asked someone to research the tunnel rumor so I did some digging.

Because TRON was taking so long to complete, the rumor started about the tunnel. The tunnel was fine.

According to my research, TRON took over 5 years to complete and the most significant delay was caused by........ Wait for it...... COVID.

So yes, the tunnel rumor was false. The TRON delay was because COVID.

At this moment we do not know if Big Thunder will miss the officially announced Spring opening.

I think the speculation about why Big Thunder might have a delayed opening, started because the permits were extended?

Folks are simply speculating on why would Big Thunder's opening might be delayed.

I think its human nature for folks to get caught up on calling folks liars and lose track of the discussion at hand. THIS IS OK its all part of the fun.

@AidenRodriguez731, As for many other situations you say I stated something as if it were a fact that was incorrect, please bring them to my attention and I will try to explain my intention of my post.
The only correlation was you are speculating as to the reason… same as you speculated as to the reason on Tron. But you are stating it as fact or real.

No
All for getting rid of as much of the red concrete as possible. The themed pavement they've been adding around the park really levels up every area.
It's subtle but very nice. I do very much appreciate these smaller changes they are rolling out.

I am likewise hoping for lots of small improvements to Big Thunder on the ride and in the queue.

I have read this over and over and (its just me) I do not understand.

My research indicates the TRON tunnel was a rumor and the significant reason for the TRON delay was COVID.

As for IF a delay in the opening of Big Thunder happens I AM PURELY BRINGING UP POSSIBLE REASONS, PURE SPECULATION. I do not understand what I am stating as fact.

It could possibly be, lack of planning?
It could possibly be, a possible correction due to a mistake?
It could possibly be, lack of resources?
It could possibly be, something to do with Cars or Villains work?
It could possibly be, simply just unforeseen things that come up?

It could be none of these and Big Thunder will open when it opens and the extension of the permits was just standard procedure.

I truly think its me not understanding what it is I am posing that folks think I am posting as fact. I sincerely do not understand.

Overall I know NO facts, I do a lot of speculating. I am just speculating. I am just speculating.

I did know some facts about RCID because I had close family members that worked for RCID and yes, a lot of folk called me a liar on those posts, but its fine as I lived it and I knew the facts.

All this could be moot and Big Thunder could open in Spring as was officially announced.

Stating something false as fact... And then, often, making points against Disney based on that false statement... And then, when called out about it, saying it's "just my vibes!!!"...

THAT is trolling.

That is why you're getting a hard time.

Not only are you not adding anything to the conversation (and remember the TOS says posts must be constructive), you are muddying the waters. And your "fun" remarks are rarely funny.

If everyone did this, the forums would be worthless.

Your participation on these forums reduces its worth.

No one at Disney blamed COVID for the ground lights not working.

No one on these boards have blamed COVID for the ground lights not working. AFAIK.

You're making stuff up again.
Oh I thought all the cuts made to the EPCOT renovation that resulted in the ugly planter and the low quality ground lighting that is now broken, was due to cuts made because COVID.

Apparently I was mistaken, but I was not trying to make stuff up.

You are right, @MisterPenguin , there is NO EXCUSE for the ground lighting to still be broken.

It’s true that the in-ground lighting exists at all because of the re-work of the area due to cuts that resulted from COVID. That does not mean that the lightning not working is because of COVID.

OK, ok, its not because of COVID.

I publicly promise to everyone I will never again blame anything currently happening on COVID going forward 🙏

I have not seen any recent statements where Disney blames anything currently happening on COVID. Please do not say I am stating a false fact here as I simply have not heard Disney blame anything currently happening on COVID.

Personally, I think any company that uses COVID as an excuse in 2026 is using a poor excuse.

We all agree, there is no excuse why the ground lighting is broken and it should be fixed.

EDIT: Ya know, I have complained a million times about the COVID excuse but now that I am saying there is no excuse for the ground lighting being broken I strangely feel I am being harder on TWDC now than I was about them using the COVID excuse.

There is no winning I guess ;)

Frankly I want Big Thunder open yesterday!

I feel for all the folks who attempted to schedule their very expensive WDW vacation in the spring hoping to be one of the first to ride Big Thunder!

Hoping for the best for all the folks that have their WDW vacation in the spring and summer! 👍

Scheduling without an opening date would be silly.

I think it’s definitely possible that some of this extra ROA work has changed the timeline a bit - but that’s how it goes. MK is still in great shape with plenty to do - unlike studios haha

Folks book trips in advance. Disney announced a Spring opening date, folks could book after June 20 thinking, "That's the last day of Spring, its gotta be open by then", just saying...

I guess you are right, not a good idea to book with out a specific date...
