I appreciate this article and the level of research Imagineering is putting into this ride and section of the park.
The ride focusing on the 'intrinsic value of nature' through the lens of Mayan culture sounds both wonderful and more fitting to AK. Obviously, no amount of homework can produce a good ride or themed area, but articles like this give me a lot of faith. We know the bones of the ride are great and I hope they've also taken in feedback from TBA. At least this time signs point to thrills and tension remaining core to the ride and story.
I hope we have lots of Mayan references and callbacks throughout the town of Pueblo Esperanza and that the play area is Mayan themed too. That will really help bring this inline with the theming elsewhere in AK.

While she was speaking metaphorically, I wonder if this is a hint they'll use the literal tornado featured in the Tokyo version of the Indiana Jones Adventure...
Though they'd have to open up that middle chamber for that...

I dont think that’s controversial either. I don’t really associate Marvel with Disney. I’m indifferent towards the acquisition. I enjoy them both as entertainment companies

Agree 100%. They can own them as much as they want but Marvel, Simpsons, etc. will never be or feel like “Disney” to me.

I’m excited too, this seems to be the expansion they’re putting the most thought into in terms of actual integration and faithfulness to the vision of its respective park, although a case can be made for VL over in MK.
And agreed about TBA. You had to wonder what those Louisiana trips did for the attraction as it was so disjointed in the end products. Let’s hope there’s no repeat here

Okay, two things here...

Yeah, I'm sorry, but I'm still skeptical that the decision to retheme Dinosaur to Indiana Jones wasn't just "it's the same track layout and ride system as the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland, and some of the Indiana Jones movies take place in South America, right?".
"One thing that I’ll be keeping an eye on is the god Chaac. It seems like the god of rain, thunder, and lightning will be a key part of creating an attraction that uses the duality of nature to create a thrilling experience. Pfost did throw out one tidbit: the storyline of the attraction does not involve Kukulkan or Quetzalcoatl, as has been speculated by the fan community in the past."
So, the whole "he's gonna be looking for a mythical creature" thing was bullcrap? He'll actually be facing off against a god?

Chaac being involved and Kukulkan not being involved doesn't automatically mean that. Like many Mesoamerican gods (including Kukulkan), Chaac himself has reptilian qualities, and nowhere does it say he is the sole focus of the ride anyway.

If it’s based on a mythical god with amphibian and reptile features, I’m guessing he’s seen in animal or semi-animal form.

Gonna copy and paste my question I asked on the construction thread of Tropical Americas since the question would fit more here rather than there.
In terms of Tropical Americas news this year, what do you all expect to see get revealed or announced either sometime this year or at D23?
I'm guessing this year we'll probably find out the names for the Indiana Jones and Encanto attractions, see the ride vehicles at D23, more concept art of both attractions, and maybe get some of the animatronics of both attractions showed off?
