You’re down there dropping ~$175+ for one of those:

Misleading of course…… but $280 round trip is the my actual additional air cost to get to Narita(Tokyo) since I have been hanging out in the far east——more specifically SE Asia on and off over the years.

Oh yeah…. If you’re already in the area it’s a no-brainer! My ticket to Disneyland Paris was quite cheap as well but I was already on that side of the pond.

I had the good fortune to visit DisneySea, and although it was wonderful, WDW absolutely holds its own against TDR... from the four main parks with experiences you can't find anywhere else (e.g., Kilimanjaro Safaris and World Showcase), to the lakes (e.g., Crescent Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon...) and rivers (Sassagoula River Cruise!), to the water parks, to the beautiful and sprawling grounds of many resorts (e.g., Port Orleans)...

Some of us aren’t dropping $175 for a ticket. My costs are much closer to $50. That’s the glory of an AP, means having to compress 3 years worth of visits into one year but that’s how it works. I also have much more free time then most people do because I compress two weeks of work into one week. I visited the best castle park last year, but transportation costs of flying to Europe push the cost per day far higher for DLP then domestic flights to Orlando (or Anaheim which is on the three year cycle.) Same thing with Japan. My budget only allows for one big international trip a year, with a focus on knocking off places off my bucket list. Japan is on that list, I plan to go there sometime in the intermediate future, I would love to go back to DLP but it’s unlikely I will for sometime as I focus on new international locations over repeating locations.

Increasing international trips beyond 1 trip could only occur at the cost of 2-3 domestic trips for every international trip which is not something I’m willing to do at this time. Not to mention, jet lag is real, and there is a real physical cost to flying through so many time zones and I need a few days on return to recover before going back to work. Enjoy your trip, but there is no need to belittle others making different choices.

WDW doesn't require a passport, or even leaving the same time zone for many of its guests. Some may even live within a day's drive, or less, or qualify for state resident discounts.

Many Americans already travel to Florida to board a cruise, attend a work conference, visit relatives or some other reason like escaping colder weather back home. Adding on WDW to that trip is a natural choice for families with young children who know other families who go.

Having said all that, if you're a big enough Disney fan to go that often, can afford to stay Deluxe, or own a DVC contract, it's worth it to visit TDR, and Japan as a whole. Same with DLP and HKDL IMO.

Here’s a question - how does Tokyo Disney compare to Paris for English speaking visitors?

I know Disneyland Paris is a full on “bi-lingual” resort where all CM’s are required to know both English and French (and many know more - I was amazed how quickly they changed from one language to another!).

Or...

You're sick to death of being nickeled and dimed at every turn, feeling like TDO has their hand in your wallet from the moment you arrive to the time you leave, and want to experience other Disney theme parks because you have a desire to visit other places because you've realized that Florida is not the be-all-end-all of vacation destinations. Not that you won't go, especially when friends are there as well, but there's a lot of world you can visit outside of the 407 area code.

Both do just fine(along with Hong Kong) in their own way. In my experience the French cast pronounce English better but even when Japanese cast have difficulty they are exceptionally great with patience and perseverance and if communication still lacks after some exchanges then they will do their best to find a co worker who commands better English to help out………hands down the best cast members out of the 6 Disney destinations by far…….all 6 resorts have competent CM’s but Tokyo is on another level.

There's many reasons why taking trips to WDW or DL work better for some than going to Tokyo or other out of the country sites. If it works for you and you are happy with your choice then thats just fine.
