DAK 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

personally don't see how Indy or Encanto is any different then Avatar being in this park. and avatar turned out great so hopeful this project turns out similar in spirit.
I'm more open minded about adding IP to AK and Epcot, but I do hope they connect Antonio's story with the theme of the park somehow.

Better Zootogether really put a bad taste in my mouth. There is no reason why they couldn't have added a "meta" story inside their own universe to connect the franchise to AK. Just feel like the whole attraction was a big fail.

I feel like if D’Amaro was CEO this attraction would have never saw the light of day.

It screams like something from the late Iger era just to please shareholders by having Zootopia representation in the park.

Can you please explain why it did not fit the theme of the park?
It’s definitely a stretch - the idea of adding an Avatar lane to DAK was terrible - but the execution was wonderful thanks to Joe and James.

It seems obvious why someone would think the concept doesn’t fit the park 100%.
The truth is, your interpretation of the park does not matter. It is flawed and does not match the standards behind the actual person who designed it.
Nobodies interpretation is flawed - we all get to have our own interpretations and opinions.

i mean… I can say that I think Bob Igers interpretation of the Disney parks is flawed?

On the other hand, it replaced an area that once housed Pocahontas, and the film’s script was famously memed as being Pocahontas with the names changed. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The Pocahontas show was certainly not a masterpiece but it did have live animals and teach about nature and live animals.

I think Avatar turned out very nice - it’s crazy impressive and you don’t need to know anything about the movies to appreciate it (I’m proof of that!) - but it’s still a stretch for DAK in my opinions

When they first announced Pandora, all those years ago, I was skeptical. However, I feel it was executed beautifully and compliments the park really well. Aesthetically, the land is dense with lush foliage and detail that adds a lot of depth and worldbuilding, giving the impression of a place much bigger and complex than what you are able to see. It is also full of ornate cultural creations of the Na'Vi. Both Africa and Asia are like this as well.

But they also didn't have to stretch the theme of the films all that much to make the land work. The first film is, at its core, about living with the land (hey like the boat ride!) vs. destroying it. One of the major themes of Animal Kingdom is showing the ways humans live alongside animals in ways that are both beneficial and harmful to them.

Encanto, on the other hand, is not a film about animals or conservation. It's about family. "A side character can talk to animals" is a stretch, and basing a ride around that is a disservice to the film and what people who do want a ride based on the film to be. It'll either be that, or they will bend to what people say they want and just make it not really about the animal stuff at all and just another weird conflict-less thing like Tiana's Bayou Adventure.

Anyway, that is how Encanto is not "just like Avatar" in regards to putting it in DAK.

Again, I hope that the land itself does a lot of heavy lifting with details and worldbuilding to make it at least aesthetically fit with the rest of DAK.

Encanto is definitely a huge stretch. It seems like today's Disney just doesn't care unfortunately. As long as it somehow some way features animals, it's good enough, which is absurd to me.
