Universal rumored to be in talks with Elon Musk’s Boring Co.

You know what's funny?
Man if only there was some kind of other system that could escape the water table and be tried and true to not be a horrible idea... something that was tested elsewhere perhaps. Maybe some kind of line of buckets sent through the sky OVER the area. OR Perhaps some kind of single railed system that could efficiently move back and forth on this rail.

Ah but thats too complicated lets build the subway but only for cars!
What is the idea that you are calling horrible? Do you have news that we don't?

I have common sense .

1. Of course the high water table is going to be a problem plus the frequent heavy rains. NYC subways flood quite a bit now because you can't pump out the water fast enough. Whats going to happen with a hurricane or a sudden huge rain storm. What kind of escape choices do you have when the walls almost touch the cars? There's a reason they built this in a desert. Why is it a good idea to go right from desert to a known flooded swamp??? Do you realize how bad of an idea that sounds?
2. Just go online and you can see people complaining about how dumb the OG Vegas Loop is. It's a bad idea. It's a bad version of a subway. None of the capacity, the public use, the efficiency. It's horrible for the environment comparatively and can't transport squat. It's literally just a super expensive new "road" that boasts no traffic. How about having a dedicated bus line or road instead? How about all the other methods of transport that already work in Central Florida?

We literally have tunnels that run under oceans, but you know best.

Why do you assume it is going to be an exact copy of the Vegas loop? We have no details other than it is probably going to be a tunnel since it is the Boring Company. But that tells us very little on what would actually be the transportation method.

But yeah, shout out that they should have done the skyliner. Will that run under or over the interstate? How does that do during adverse weather conditions again? Or do a light rail...what is the best path to position that? Without understanding the logistics for every system and how that works with their goals, it is easy to have an opinion. It is just uninformed. 🤷‍♂️ It seems the district is going a certain direction...I am sorry you don't agree with their choice.

Water =/= water in this case. A high water table is very different than just running underneath water. There's a reason you don't have many basements/subways/underground structures in Florida. Disney knew this and thats why they built the utilidoors on the ground level instead of digging ;)

Again...you know best. I am sure 1960s decisions from Disney applies here. Go tell the engineers their plan (which you have no details of, aren't even finalized and are still under negotiations) sucks.

Yesterday, The Boring Company had their first public meeting on their Nashville Tunnel. This project was secretly developed with the state without local involvement. The Boring Company Representatives lied about having weekly meetings with the mayor. What really stood out with regards to this project is that they were surprised by and could not answer questions about the limestone karst in the region. That’s a major geological feature of central Florida and why sinkholes are a concern.

Do we really want a re-do of the "we are all going to die in unimaginable ways on the buckets of death" thread that we had for this 😉

The robovans can hold up to 20. That is the reason I brought them up. Higher capacity autonomous vehicles. But again, I have zero idea if these are being considered at all as part of this project.
Those are still very much a concept, and not near series production.

If the tunnels are large enough for city busses, maybe they'll use UOs own fleet of EV Busses

All I can think of is an EV bus bursting into flames IN THE TUNNEL! Oh the humanity!

It'll be better than the Skyliner for cooking passengers. No having to wait for that pesky sun to strike the right angle. A nice consistent 5,000 degrees Fahrenheit with little loss to radiation thanks to the surrounding bore. In fact it'll be hot enough to burn all the remains to powder, even the bones.

Wonder if they'll do a Potter train gag for the duration of the trip since theres nothing to see ?

The "buckets of death" complaint was always dumb because something like the skyliner has already been done before at theme parks around the world + the SkyWay was at Disney World before anyway. It was a proven concept. Elon Musk's underground tunnels are not.

You are right.
There are no Boring co. tunnels at Disney World.
Tunnels anywhere in Florida would never work .

This is why Universal should build their Skyliner but make it better and have their cars have AC. I already checked, there is a system in Australia that has air conditioned cabs.
