ROFL. Ok.
Where’s the $39k cybertruck?
Where is the cybertruck with 500 mile range?
Why has the supercharger network not completely been opened to all other EV’s even though it was supposed to be done two years ago?
Where is the Tesla roadster that was supposed to be delivered six years ago?

Don’t get me wrong, I generally like his ideas on technology. But don’t make promises that aren’t realistic.

My impression was that the Las Vegas Loop was also a case of over-promising and under-delivering in that it turned out to be just a relatively slow, low-capacity and generally inefficient underground Tesla taxi service.

It’s still expanding out, under and above ground. And I believe the vehicles will be autonomous in the future. As it relates to this project, it’s a good proof of concept. The hope of innovative transportation options interests me

Boring was chosen because it flimflammed the district by promising an "innovative, future-ready, point-to-point solution."

There's no "there" there.

What vehicles will you use? "Innovative ones!!"

Where will it be? "Point to point!!!"

When can you get it done? "Future ready!!!!"

Time tagged...

The Vegas loop looks pretty... except for all the outdoor stops. And it's an operational nightmare with using individual cars driven by a human in one-way tunnels that require a car going one way to pull over for a car coming back the other way.

If you're willing to give me $3.5B, I'll provide you with point-to-point solutions. No peeking unless you pay first!!...

1. taxis
2. Uber
3. Lyft
4. your own car
Just did some back of napkin math find the assumption that it says identical to Vegas and it would run Tesla Model Ys.

If there's a hypothetical expectation of 1000 guests per hour, Uni would need a fleet of 100-150 including spares for downtime and charging, plus 200-250 drivers (assuming a mix of part time and full time).

Obviously all speculation at this point given that they are in negotiations, but I wonder if this is an opportunity to do something with their robovans.

Robovans are just self-driving cars. Taxis, Lyft, Uber, and people's own cars are already fulfilling that role.

Dedicated lanes for buses is the answer. And for the most-used routes, light rail. And light rail could be self-driving, just like the trams at airports.

Exactly...but capacity is higher. Could be a win if you take more buses/cars off the road and have these running through tunnels. I assume tunnels will come into play since this is the Boring Company... but I could be mistaken and they are presenting another type of solution.

I too generally like dedicated bus lanes, but it doesn't seem like Universal is going that direction. So little information at this point. Hopefully if they reach an actual agreement, more details will be provided.

Many of the small vehicle robotic taxis are... small. Just four seats. What do you do with a family of 10? Or for giant strollers (prams) or mobility vehicles?

How do you summon a larger van? With an app? Oh, yeah, that's Lyft/Uber. :)

In the end, automated cars will supplant these options once their body count is clearly less than tipsy guests. But, that's not reducing the number of vehicles on the road.

When EU's fireworks are over and five thousand or so guests are leaving, will there be a line of a thousand autocabs to pick them up?

The robovans can hold up to 20. That is the reason I brought them up. Higher capacity autonomous vehicles. But again, I have zero idea if these are being considered at all as part of this project.

We are making a lot of assumptions without knowing what their plans will be.

The Boring Company's stated plans to the Vegas district most certainly didn't not come to be.

What they plan to do is irrelevant if they have a history of not delivering.

We will see. I have more concerns about the parties involved being able to overcome potential cost than anything else at this point.

Man if only there was some kind of other system that could escape the water table and be tried and true to not be a horrible idea... something that was tested elsewhere perhaps. Maybe some kind of line of buckets sent through the sky OVER the area. OR Perhaps some kind of single railed system that could efficiently move back and forth on this rail.

Ah but thats too complicated lets build the subway but only for cars!
