EPCOT Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

Do you think the ones installed in EPCOT decades ago are still available? I think not. The ones that were in EPCOT were probably over engineered to last.
I'm sure that just like any 1980s fiber optics lamp/fixture, it was just a color wheel spinning under a bright light that caused the 'patterns' of light on the pavers. I would bet large sums they weren't programmable pixels.

Though, now, they could be.

Double though, I'm not sure how optic fiber pavers stand up to power washers.

The last rumors about EPCOT were:
a new pavilion in WS
new figment
new SSE
sm happening at WOL & Mission Space
Uk & Mary Poppins ride in some form
new hotel
Fixing/redoing the middle in some capacity

^all in preparation for EPCOT's 50th. All of these have been mentioned or thrown around in the last six months on these forums and wanted to just rewrite them for all to see. Personally this everything I could see for EPCOT's 50th if they really do wanna do some major stuff for this park. Plus after Tropical Americas & Monsters get done in 2027&28 they could choose to refocus on EPCOT

and what it will still look like 8 years from now after none of that happens by the 50th
That can happen when someone takes “forum wish lists” and “what I hope happens” posts and runs with them as “rumored projects”. 😂🤦‍♂️

I’ll be surprised if SSE gets a full overhaul, including the ride system being replaced, by the 50th. The rest is poppycock.

Let's put SSE in the category of "it needs a complete overhaul because it's old, at the end of its life, and will soon fall apart... but we'll just keep repairing it instead."

Other things in that category: the monorail, and Space Mountain.

Also, can we trust this WDI with SSE and not expect something maybe even worse than the 07 version on the other end.

Stating the obvious now of course - but they spent all that money and made a mess of the Epcot spine, feels less symmetrical, more generic - and not materially more futuristic looking even after all that time. They did add a classic Epcot logo (or a version of it with a strange center) - but it is only observable if flying by overhead. Perhaps if I die of disappointment one day there, I can view it as my spirit leaves my body.

The majority of fans would opt for the previous look and feel, making this an extremely wasteful allocation of resources - which falls on leadership. Couldn't they have just rehabbed/updated the commincore/innoventions buildings inside or out if needed, but kept the core concept and layout?

You don’t hire Elizabeth Diller to do a simple renovation. Iger wanted to play architectural patron like Mikey and Epcot was the victim of that choice.

it wasn’t exactly special or good looking before the renovation

for real, i dont know anyone who prefered the older version to the newer one. Im not saying the new one is great but the old layout was just a concrete wasteland with a pin trading booth in the center lol. The stores look much better imo, the greenery and plenty of seating is a big plus imo, Moana is a gret walkthrough, and really the only thing im meh about is the often empty communicore hall area

I think or at least hope we can all agree on this but the middle of EPCOT (now world celebration) has always been an issue. And two things can be true. We can dislike the middle area as it is today while still admitting its better then what was there, while still enjoying some qualities about the old. And that the middle of EPCOT has always deserved to be better then what it was or is. Hopefully/eventually third times a charm

personally want the middle to just be giant fountains like this

Third time’s the charm? What was there before Evolving Epcot wasn’t the original design.

What we have today with the ugly planter and broken ground lights is terrible.

And adding insult to injury, the ground lighting remains broken; screwed down with concrete screws to try to avoid the trip hazard.

Lets see if Josh will fix this?

If nothing is done to fix this under Josh, I will know he is no different than any other overpaid CEO.

I agree, but after hearing how hands on Josh was with the changes to Smugglers Run, I have something I haven't had in years, HOPE
