MK All-New Nighttime Parade Disney Starlight Set to Debut at Magic Kingdom in 2025

Whether we love it or hate it, how long do we think Starlight will last at MK? Could there be a change of some sort for the 60th? Could they ever go back to MSEP as a limited time nostalgia thing? If it still even exists. Though it will probably never leave the west coast.
If it follows the same trend as the other parades it'll last until MK doesn't want to spend money on it anymore, or until they run it into the ground. Since the 2000s MK has only had 2 daily-daytime-parades? And if it follows the current trend of anniversaries it'll be nothing. The 50th was the last big anniversary for MK and WDW and we all know how that went. Even at DL their last big anniversary is debatable between the 50th and 60th.

MK ran Share a Dream for 13 years and rebranded it twice over that span. Aside from when it opened in 2001, almost nothing new was made for it, it only got things removed or leftovers added from older parades. FoF is being ran into the ground and approaching a rough 12 years, and in my opinion the only reason this parade hasn't seen a rebrand is because of how inflexible the theme is.

Then Spectro lasted 19 years before meeting its fate where it then took 14 years before a replacement was announced. Even now, Starlight being good or bad is debatable, but it's obvious in the quality of the floats and costumes that the proper budget for it was disregarded.

Now with MSEP being older I'm not sure if I trust them doing a coast to coast transfer, especially when we've seen that quality and maintenance has gone down. Plus them using MSEP as a "band-aid" for nighttime entertainment at MK is the last thing needed. Especially with all the advancements they could be doing.

Maybe Starlight will get updates over time but who knows when. Maybe if operations suddenly has a change of heart or starts giving the proper attention to entertainment as a whole.

We’re not seriously discussing bringing back MSEP already, are we? Starlight might not be Spectro but it’s not terrible either. Give it a chance!

I have a feeling many who criticize it have never seen it in person. 🤷‍♂️

I have seen Starlight a few times. I don’t despise it, it is nice to have a light parade back, but it’s just Ok. It just doesn’t hit the same as MSEP and Spectro did. The lighting they used looks like a bunch of Govee string lights thrown on the floats and not neatly placed like other light parades. The soundtrack sounds like it was maybe meant to have lyrics that got cut? Which would have added a lot imo. Like others have said Starlight just didn’t have a high enough budgets.

PTN and Dreamlights remain the winners of current nighttime parades. PTN is a winner not because of quality which is low but its overall fun, flashy lighting and has a catchy upbeat soundtrack.

It’s meant to last a long time. But, expect updates over time.

What type of updates do you think we could see? I think one of the sooner changes will be Wish. I hope whatever ends up replacing that float is a better second float for the parade and not as small. Personally I think the train should be relocated to follow the Blue Fairy and a new finale float created or more of a cavalcade type thing like Spectro. A Drum would be a nice addition to but not sure how that would work unless they swap out the middle section of the train float? If that’s possible.

I admit it does look nice with the castle behind it.
I wish we had high quality videos of SpectroMagic back in the day with the castle behind it.
All we have are Clips of Spectro down Main Street on TV Shows/Official VHS Tapes during the 20th. MSEP was more full on ABC's 1999 Christmas Parade and July 4th 1988's TV Special.

For those interested.

Maybe someone will be willing to share the underliners. I’m sure someone out there made a recording.

Thanks! Sounds Great! My, How far we've come since last Feb when we were wondering if MK would get Starlight open to now seeing Starlight go Both Directions! So Happy! 😀😃🙂
