Avengers Campus: E-Watch! (Waiting on the new ride)

What's working with your timeline is that both Avengers and Coco are rides only, not full lands. They could easily have those two offerings open by 2028 (I think), given that early work does seem to have finally started on Coco now, if they want to.
Honestly in most case I don't think it even needs to take that long for most of the construction, other than it being "Disney construction".

I just liked 2031 cuz it stuck with the odd numbers but I could see Avatar being done for the 75th anniversary in summer 2030. Anywhere from there through 2031 Md they can spin it like it was for DCA’s 30th
Yeah, but a new land (and maybe a new refreshed TL *fingers crossed*) for the 75th would be probably what would be more ideal. As we see with the 25th for DCA they aren't really celebrating it in any meaningful way, they are more likely to just roll everything into the 75th anyways and just call it a "Resort Celebration" and have it go for 18 months.

If Coco is coming out in 2029 that seems to me like the a pretty good indication that’s when the ride will open too.

Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and Mission Breakout both opened simultaneously in 2017

Incredibles 2 and Incredicoaster both in 2018

Seems pretty likely they’ll want to do the same with Coco and we also haven’t seen anything vertical so 2029 is probably better odds than 2028 based off that alone. Only thing is Coco seems like a holiday movie so late 2029 seems a little too far out.

My brain tells me that too but my gut tells me 2031.

Only issue with that is they haven't slated Coco 2 with an actual release date yet. So saying "2029" is just a ballpark, it could even be 2030/31 at this point as release schedules as known to be moved this far out.

True but as long as its ball park release date is listed as 2029 im going with 2029 for the attraction too. Obviously if it gets pushed out to 2030/2031 than they wouldn’t postpone the attraction that far out and it could still very well open in 2028/2029.

I'm still 2028, I like the synergy but just think they want these two major attractions opened sooner rather than later.

Unless Disney starts prepping work for TL by next Spring, I don’t think a new TL will happen. Fingers crossed though. I really wish it was easy as fixing TDL’s Tomorrowland as they’ve been doing in phases but that stupid Pplmover track that Disney ruined has kept them from creating anything entirely new in the land for the last 26 years. The land hasn’t got an entirely new ride from scratch in 49 years.

That is why the hope is for an announcement at D23 this year and shovels in the ground around this time next year.

They've been ready to pull the trigger a few times, but got cold feet last minute (we even have threads about it). So that is why fingers crossed this time it happens, the 75th just seems like the perfect opportunity.

I feel like Avatar means the earliest we could potentially get a new TL is 2035 or so.

I don't think one has anything to do with the other. They are obviously willing to do multiple projects at the same time at this point. So I don't see anything blocking TL other than their willingness to pull the trigger.

My wild guess is that a third gate will open before they expand into Simbla lot. Avatar going in the backlot instead of the Simba lot makes more sense that way. They want Avatar in the parks before they plan to expand DCA. I believe Josh has a long-term vision for DLR.

This is not really the thread for it, but I still really don't think a 3rd gate is in the plans for DLR. Unless they can cobble together more land (I hear Garden Walk might be on the verge of being up for sale again) I don't see a 3rd gate being in the cards. The West Side land still seems primed for DL/DCA expansion not 3rd gate, and TSL is going to be the Disney Springs West not a 3rd gate. So I don't see where a 3rd gate is to go unless they get more land, which doesn't seem feasible at this point.

I saw people mentioning Avatar, so I thought this was the Avatar thread haha. I disagree, but I'll elaborate another time.

To me, I still read "third gate" and mentally think "Toy Story Lot," but maybe that's just my own outdated notions of resort expansion at this point.

And if that's the case, it makes no sense for them to develop that land before every single plot of DLForward land is entirely consumed by additional park space, as is the Eastern Gateway entirely finished.

It also makes a lot more sense IMO to develop the northern part of the DLForward land as DL expansion and the southern half as DCA expansion with additional entrances built near the monorail station of DTD than it does for that land to be a third gate that isn't even all that large.

You're telling me DLR is going to the expense of making all that extra land available for theme park development and is going to make it harder for its existing patrons and itself to utilize said land by making it a third gate, especially when they would absolutely benefit from having another place for crowds to exit after, say, the first performances of Fantasmic or World of Color? I simply don't believe it to be true.

Have we seen the Disneyland resort open attractions/lands of equivalent size 2 years apart?

Avengers 27

Coco 29

Avatar 31

Even back in DCA 2.0 I’m not sure if there was that much investment opening over such a short period but I may be wrong

Galaxy’s Edge 2019, Avengers Campus 2021? Was supposed to open in 2020 originally but Covid delayed it. Space Mountain 1977 Thunder Mountain 1979?
