News Josh D’Amaro Named Next CEO of The Walt Disney Company

I will be shocked if COP is still a thing by the time D'Amaro retires.
I don’t think we have to worry about carousal of progress for at least a decade considering that they’re putting in the Walt audio-animatronic. That will very likely cost a lot of money that I doubt they’d be very eager to spend on something they have plans to replace any time soon.

We won't know Josh's 'direction' for a while. He's still not CEO. He has Iger looking over his shoulder for the rest of the year. Dana's handling content. And the Board isn't going to let Josh pull a Chapek and let him immediately reorganize the company.

Also the $60B in park investment is already at work in all those construction projects for the next 3 years.
Is it $60 billion or $17 billion over the next decade (and maybe a few years more) in Florida? I hope they can scrape enough together this year, after projecting $7 billion alone for stock buybacks.

Everyone here knows my extreme distaste for Iger.

That being said I hope he is leaving because he feels the time is right, and it’s not some health or family issue.

I wish him the best.

Not gonna lie though I did do a fist pump when I saw the news 😃😃😃😃
The time was right the first time he left. Sadly, the successor was not. Not that Josh is great, but Chapek was well in over his head.

Do we know how many decades D,Amaro intends to stay?

“Bob's a big risk taker. I'm a big risk taker, and that's been true my whole life with how I've approached growing as an individual to how I've approached the business world," D'Amaro said.

Risktaking without the talent to back it up is just brand destruction. Walt Disney, Thomas Edison, Steve Jobs, these were true visionaries, and business geniuses. Josh reminds me of Mitt Romney and John Kerry. Completely competent, but not inspirational or visionary. Josh’s term as CEO motto should be the same as a doctor, “First do no harm.”
