DAK 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

If Dr. Seeker was here, why not have him participate in something last night?

Sometimes I wish Disney would put at least a little effort into the goodbyes for the fans.
I wonder if it was to prevent even more chaos around Dinosaur. Imagine how crowded that area would be with a 4+ hr. wait for the ride, Photopass in front of Aladar nearly to Restaurantosaurus, and a Seeker M&G, which you know people would go nuts for.

That being said, I do wish he had shown up at the end. Maybe greeting the last people to get off the ride or walking the queue after the line cut off.

It's really creepy how some of you seem to find the idea of not going to a Disney park an insurmountable task. Not even all of them, just one.

All I said was that I am not giving Disney money for a park that doesn't include what I care about anymore. Giving Disney money is not the default state of being.

Does that mean I expect some kind of mass exodus or that people won't show up to the new land? No. It means I will not be one of those people that does show up.

When the new area is crowded after I say I am not going to go into Animal Kingdom anymore, that actually doesn't contradict anything I said, because I am not one of those people.

I would like to spend my money supporting small businesses and seeing more of my country, instead of trying to squeeze happiness out of an expensive park that I already have experienced many, many, many, many, many times.

I have basic self control.

Disagree: a Seeker meet was exactly what they needed, they just had to shove him somewhere outside of the wall corridor. No one would have complained about a lack of good background for the photo. Those people weren't leaving the land because there was nothing to do, they were just crowding what little there was more. When the ride went down there were tons of people roaming Resto because everyone just crowded in there and there were no seats available but people were still buying food.

Though, personally, I'm not sure if I could trust the safety of the real Seeker from the Seeker mob. That's the kind of thing they can't prepare you for.

Edit: A meet is different from the actual guy, though. Like I said with Chester and Hester, all they needed was for him to show up at the end, say thanks, and wave for people to be happy.

I’m pretty much in the same boat but I would actually go back to Disneyland if given the chance. I haven’t been in years and actually miss it unlike my current feelings towards WDW right now.

Right now I have two days free for sulking in Florida and I feel very very upset, and I really WANT to give Universal my money right now to be whisked away on another dinosaur adventure...but yeah. That was one of the great things about Dinosaur. No drops.

And nothing's gonna overcome Restraunt O'saurus, stuff like that's just never happening again.
They should bulldoze/gut that Kong ride and give us a jeep ride. I want a dinosaur ride that doesn't get me soaked or is a coaster and focused on damn dinosaurs!

What did someone say to make you think they find not going to Disney an insurmountable task?

I know there are those who constantly criticize and complain about Disney and yet continue to go but I haven’t seen that in this thread.

Don’t sit in the front, ideally don’t sit up against the left side of the boat (your L arm and chest may become soaked in that spot.) You should only get lightly/medium sprayed and only above the shoulder line.

Yeah - an unannounced cool thing.
Those people weren't leaving the land because there was nothing to do, they were just crowding what little there was more.
Exactly - just an “end of an era” photo op over by the theatre would have pulled people out of the land a bit.

Universal doing what it does best, throwing shade at Disney.

Not even Disney believes the "dinosaurs don't sell/aren't popular anymore" thing.
Of course not. They just don't have any popular dinosaur IPs. That's the "problem".
Two years ago, people on this very site were critical of Dinosaur, said it was too dark, that it wasn’t enjoyed like Indy at Land and that work needed to be done to fix it.
Hey, don't look at me. I always enjoyed Dinosaur.
tropical America’s will be far better and superior than Dino land USA ever was!
If you're a fan of Encanto or Indiana Jones, maybe. Otherwise, I'd be shocked if it was. Especially considering most of Disney's replacements since 2019 have been downgrades.
Why not invest in Dinoland and give us Tropical Americas? Why is it always an either or with massive amounts of unused land and a roster of <10 attractions?
Because it's cheaper to replace than it is to expand, apparently.
I don’t know how you can’t, just looking at the rides, think replacing an off the shelf carnival roller coaster and a dark ride that missed its mark with a brand new state of the art dark ride based on a beloved movie with a killer soundtrack and a variation of a widely loved thrilling dark ride beloved and thought to be one of the best attractions at the two best theme parks in the world isn’t going to be a hit.
I'm not against them adding an Encanto ride or an Indiana Jones ride to Disney World in general. I'm against them putting those rides in a park where they don't belong and removing dinosaurs from Animal Kingdom. Why is that so hard to understand?
Having Flight of Passage and Na'vi go down in wait time through this means people can actually do those experiences without the pressure of buying into the LL monster or extensive planning that constrains enjoyment of a day at the park. Tropical America as a whole will probably end up leading to extended park hours, which again: will overall help guest enjoyment because it means they have a more extended timeframe to do what they want to do.
Really? Because Cosmic Rewind's opening didn't stop lines at Soarin' and Test Track from still being long.

Yeah, that's all well and good, Universal. I'm still not going to your park. At least not while you still have Minions.
Every other version of that ride (all two of them) is more popular because they are in more popular parks. Parks that have more than 5 rides. There’s an obvious trend here. It’s not the IP.
They're probably easier to find in the parks, too.

I sincerely doubt anybody was walking up to Dinosaur and then rejecting going on it because it was about dinosaurs and not Indiana Jones.

I'm holding my breath River Adventure looks good! (I just need to pack a poncho for that ride haha)

River Adventure (when fully working and not full of broken AAs) is the best ride at IoA and one of the best on property!

But I agree that the rest of the area (other than the Discovery Center, as you mentioned) is underwhelming. Including Velocicoaster, which is a great roller coaster but has very little to do with Jurassic Park or dinosaurs.

I love Spaceship Earth and see your point. I just don't think River Journey lives up to the waits it gets. Maybe the new offerings will spread things out better

Oh definitely. As I said, I love it -- if I had to pick between walking on it and walking on FoP I'd probably pick NRJ; not because I dislike FoP (it's very good) but because after riding it a couple of times now it feels like I'm just watching a really nice movie -- but it's not a ride you wait 60 minutes for. Peter Pan has the same problem.
