DAK 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

As far as the majority of the general public not liking Dinosaur, I just don't see how this will change with a retheme. The isolated location is not changing. The ride system (which would be why some don't like the ride) is not changing. I just think after the initial hype it will probably end up about the same as before, popularity wise. Now, will Tropical Americas attract more guests than the underutilized carnival area? I'm sure it will. But Dinoland could have just been improved instead of scrapped.
I do wonder if having the new play area closer to Indy is so people will head in that direction more than those who went down the Cretaceous Trail there? Before you would have Boneyard, and Dino-Rama when you enter the land, then Restorauntosaurus and Dinosaur down a trail. Now you'll have the village square area with the fountain designed to get guests to go both ways, left to Encanto and the Carousel, Right to Indiana Jones and the Hacienda

It is definitely ridiculous to wait 60+ minutes for the underwhelming River Journey. It is pretty, and scenic, and the animatronic is great. But...nothing happens. No suspense, no excitement. It could easily just be a walkthrough. Feels like wasted potential.

Rides don't have to have suspense to be a good attraction -- there's nothing suspenseful about Spaceship Earth, for example (or really any of EPCOT's classics). NRJ is a great C ticket and probably the best on property. Should it have 60+ minute waits? No, but no C ticket should. That's an issue with the park's offerings rather than a problem with the ride.

I think you're all right.

Pandora's waits won't magically be solved by retheming DINOSAUR and doing the rest of TA (though I'll argue the latter and the attractions it'll bring will have higher capacity than Triceratops Spin and Primeval Whirl (RIP MY 🐐)), this parks just needs something that actually expands it's footprint out and adds onto what's already there.

Disney wants IP? We want prehistoric animals? Fine, I think a compromise can be reached.

Well see how Ice Age 6 does in Feb of 2027.

The Disney+ shorts didn't produce much buzz.

Even if it does do well, wasn't it announced that Ice Age 6 would end the story? (Not that they couldn't just pull a Toy Story 4 if Ice Age 6 does well)
Is the plot of Ice Age 6 how the dawn of humanity drove most of the megafauna to extinction?

Shame all their rides suck for JP if you aren't into big coasters

Sorry, but as someone who just returned to IOA after 15 years, outside of the Discovery Center, I wasn't crazed about the JP area. Especially when you put it next to Berk or SNW or DU? Definitely doesn't feel as alive as it should be. Universal, this is your chance, just bulldoze Kong and make it a jeep ride and then add a bunch of AA dinosaurs across the land.

We’ll see how the ride looks when it comes out of refurbishment first. Baby steps.

I love Spaceship Earth and see your point. I just don't think River Journey lives up to the waits it gets. Maybe the new offerings will spread things out better

But yet every other version of that ride at parks around the world boasts 90+ min waits most of the day. Yet somehow Dino only havd 30 min waits on average. Look it’s clearly the worst version of that ride system. I get that Indy doesn’t fit the park theme but I’m pretty sure the ride is going to end up better liked and more heavily ridden then Dino. I wish Tropical Americas had some animal exhibits, but I don’t know how you can’t, just looking at the rides, think replacing an off the shelf carnival roller coaster and a dark ride that missed its mark with a brand new state of the art dark ride based on a beloved movie with a killer soundtrack and a variation of a widely loved thrilling dark ride beloved and thought to be one of the best attractions at the two best theme parks in the world isn’t going to be a hit.
Every other version of that ride (all two of them) is more popular because they are in more popular parks. Parks that have more than 5 rides. There’s an obvious trend here. It’s not the IP.

Throwing the word nostalgia around isn't actually a good argument. Sometimes people just disagree with you.
Exactly. Plus the Disney parks are supposed to create nostalgia - that’s by design. Disney works best when they lean into that - even with simple things like a 3 second cameo by Stacy.
The isolated location is not changing.
Well it will now be part of a “brand new land” and since they are tearing everything up they have the option to make the location feel much less isolated.
