Tour guide removed from Disneyland

You can also search the internet and find many articles regarding the crackdown on 3rd party guides. You have been told in many ways why what you did is wrong in Disneylands view and even security told you at the parks so going back is not going to change anything. Also if you are an official Disney Travel agent you might want to be careful how far you take this and get your agency on target.

There’s a couple of park T&Cs that could be applied but this is the clearest:

Prohibited Activities

  • Unauthorized solicitations of any kind, whether commercial, religious, educational or otherwise, or conducting any unauthorized commercial activities, including solicitations of money or other contributions or donations.

It’s hard to believe that’s the best they can do to prohibit tours of the type described.

There are interpretation issues created by putting “conducting any authorized commercial activities” in a paragraph prohibiting unauthorized solicitations and then following the term with examples of soliciting money or donations.

Just my opinion.

“conducting any unauthorized commercial activities” is pretty clear.

As I said, it’s just my opinion based on the reasoning I gave.

From its placement and examples it looks like they’re more concerned about Girl Scout cookies than unauthorized tours.

Just playing devil’s advocate in terms of what can be argued.

Is vlogging not a commercial activity?
It's probably to Disney's advantage to leave the term undefined. At the end of the day it's their property and they can prohibit what they want for any or no reason. Basically all they did was throw the guy out of the park for the day and tell him not to do it anymore.

Vague language does become an issue when Disney tries to use it as a defense - as in the Disney+ subscriber terms and conditions fiasco, where they had to back down.

In general, no. As vloggers are not typically a commercial operation "selling" a product in exchange for money for their "service". Any money they do get is given by their viewers as more of a "donation". Its often viewed as "free marketing" for Disney.

All that said, Disney has cracked down on Vloggers that have become disruptive over the years. For example I believe even Adam the Woo (RIP) had been trespassed off of Disney property multiple times and even banned from WDW for a time due to going into restricted areas.

I have returned with the latest news, I went to disneyland again, this time alone with no group as they were enjoying their day somewhere else with the other guide.
It was indeed just for 24h which is fortunate, I also took sometime to talk to security and guest relations on what happened and they were pretty clear but regretted the way the situation was handled as they knew me better this time.
That said, I also questioned them in streamers and vloggers, they said if these vloggers sell something disney related like a manual on how to navigate the parks or they sell themselves as company for the parks, then yes they will be trespassed, just filming is ok if they are not bothering anyone.
As for nannies they said this is not allowed but it is hard to catch since everyone looks like family, but if they spot a nanny on uniform taking care of guests’ kids and receiving money just because she is in the property then yes, that’s also not allowed.
As for my colleagues on other parks with 150 pax all in uniforms, disney kinda gives them the benefit of the doubt thinking for the size they are like a school or team group not an actual comercial activity so they usually leave them alone.
Since this happens way more an Orlando then in Cal, I was the “odd one out” in the park with my backpack which gave me away.
That said, I can revisit the parks and will change my operation moving forward, I hope this discussion leads other people here to avoid being trespassed like I was.
Thanks for the insights everyone.

Then end of thread.

You broke the rules, you were caught, end of story.

You're trying to act like there's more to the story here, but there's really not. Anything beyond this is grievance theater.
I am not trying to act. I started a conversation on a topic that’s all, I am not even looking for sympathy, that would be naive of me.
I actually learned a lot reading on the many responses I got but yours.

And you’re right! And since I have other guides working with me that’s why I went back to understand every single thing they are targeting now, learned a lot.

So if my post wasn't educational, then that's confirmation that you knowingly broke the rules even though you pretended otherwise.

Bye. 👋

Honestly, one person in a group taking pictures, sharing some facts, and monitoring wait times kind of sounds like what might happen with any given family visiting Disneyland.

Is it the outside person doing this what makes it egregious? Were they acting like a guide in an obvious way?

Going to City Hall and announcing one is a tour guide is what's really wild. Why would someone do this?

I doubt Disney would notice or care most of the time if people are more subtle about it. Just discuss what to do next like a normal group. Keep discussions about Disney facts to when you're waiting in line. That way it's just normal conversation, not blatantly giving a tour in the parks.

Yeah! Security that escorted me out did so because of my backpack alone with “tour guide” written on it. It was arbitrary, since we can wear what we want so I could have lied that I was’t guiding but I chose to tell the truth because I honestly thought it was alright since I did that for years. Well, lesson learned and now we adapt. And you’re right, if you keep things subtle no one will notice.

Now you're on their radar though, especially after going back to talk to them, so they are going to be aware of your presence anytime you enter the park even in plain clothes.

So I wouldn't try any sneaky under the table type situations here. Just keep everything above board here and just avoid all tour guide activities while in the Parks. Otherwise you risk being banned permanently, even for just personal visits.

Very true, I even thought I would be escorted to security when I entered the park as if they would be watching my photo ID. That did not happen, I went there by myself and now I am pretty confident on the next steps of our operations moving forward.

Yeah just best not to risk your business, getting flagged by Disney may have other outcomes that you may not realize.

So follow the rules and just do things right and everything should be fine.
