News Kathleen Kennedy Steps Down as President of Lucasfilm

Sure they do ... they sign them as part of their initial contract. They don't sign them after they've been fired. You forgot to mention non-disparagement clauses, too. But those are part of contract negotiations, not exit interviews. Bud.

This whole conversation is ridiculous. She was fired. It reminds me of Norm MacDonald's monologue when he hosted SNL:

"I don’t know if you remember this, but I used to actually be on this show. I used to do the 'Weekend Update' news routine, you remember that? That’s where I did the make-believe news jokes. That was me, you know? So then, a year and a half ago, I had sort of a disagreement with the management at NBC. I wanted to keep my job. Right? And they felt the exact opposite."
Again sounds like someone who had never worked at a corporate job.

Also notice how Norm's stance is completely different than how Kennedy is responding to all this. That sounds like a man who had been fired, Kennedy is not saying anything close to that. So you can believe whatever it is you'd like, but you have no facts to back up your claim. If you did you would have presented them already and gloated.

Once again, you forgot to say, "Bud."

Just a couple of random comments after reading all this...

Frist, KK was likely not fired. There were reports of her getting ready to step down from her role as LF President from early last year. Not the typical she is going to be fired clickbait junk we have seen since she took over, but actually step down. Also, I believe she is staying on as a producer for at least a few more films which would be weird for someone who was fired.

Second, going back and recasting and redoing movies/stories is just living in the past. The best thing they could do with the series is move on. Also, please get away from all the Jedi junk. It's been done over and over and over and over.... Unfortunately with Filoni we are likely to get more of that and not less. Can't wait for the 12 part Disney+ Mortis Gods slogfest.

I’m just glad Kennedy is finally gone, she destroyed everything I loved about Star Wars and gave us failure after failure, I’ll never understand how she lasted as long as she did in that position.
I'm right there with you. I can't say I'm all that positive about the replacements. We'll see I guess. There are still too many hold overs from her tenure still at lucasfilm for my liking. Hopefully there's more Domino's to fall once they get their footing. But people like Beck and Hidalgo... do not inspire confidence for me. And honestly I haven't been very impressed with Daves work on the creative side either. But was that Kennedys influence? I don't know, I guess we'll see.

There's nothing I'd like to see more than a huge turnaround for star wars. I just can't talk about everything is going to be sunshine and roses now. Not with how modern Disney has gone. I've said before, it's at a prove it to me stage with, Star wars, marvel, pixar, Disney animation..... Quality storytelling has not been a strong suit of Disney for more than a few years now. So I'm squarely in the wait and see camp.

What in your opinion should they do going forward?

Interesting timing for sure. And I do agree with others it will be interesting to see how the Mando movie does with her out. I know she was the boogey man for a lot of Star Wars fans, so it will be interesting to see if they give it a chance with her out, or go with the "I'll see it on D+ and see if I want back again."

As for the future, no idea. I hope Filoni takes it back to exciting for me at least.

It's very hard to say, that's why it's so interesting. This is still 100% a Kennedy film. So most of the people who were against her, will know it's still under her watch. So they probably will wait unless the word of mouth is great. The average Joe? Most wont have a clue so it will be interesting to see if it grabs the random moviegoer. It's also "baby yoda" that alone could push it forward even if it's closer to season 3 of mando, instead of 1 or 2. So in the end, who the heck knows. Personally I'm at wait and see. But a solid trailer could turn me.

Good question, and to be honest, I don't think I could provide a great answer.

In terms of a general direction, I would like to see them focus on new characters if sticking to the known timeline. Show me the story of the Tie pilot and how they ended up with the Empire. Give me the story of one local resistance group and their efforts. Follow a field medic crew for the rebellion or republic. A repair crew and what they have to do to secure supplies and keep the rebel fleet going.

What I don't want is...
- Them trying to recontextualize existing characters ala Solo or the ST.
- Them retconning the story as it currently sits. Not that the story didn't end up being bad, but it feels ridiculous to try and change it now.
- Jedi/Sith or anyone that uses the force in general as the main focus (that include Force Witches and weird incestuous God Families... looking at you Filoni). We have covered this ground pretty extensively and it is repetitive.

Oh, and no Space horses galloping on Star Destroyers that have giant mechanical planet killing genitals slapped on their underside.

Some interesting thoughts. LucasFilms should have thought of some of those things beforehand.

The sequels could have been or should have been closing out the OT. Maybe in the last one have the hand off the torch but KK decided against that. Had they done that the could have avoided the great divide in SW.

As far as why you described? So basically Star Trek lower decks?

Those are TV shows IMO, not films. Which ironically what has also gotten Disney/LF into trouble.
