More proof that the door coaster was being considered in the late 2000s with this interview with Former VP Dan Cockerell. It was ready to be greenlit when Cokerell mentioned the park need more family friendly things compared to another coaster, so Monsters Inc got shelved and the third track of Toy Story Mania was built

Mission Breakout is better than DCA’s Tower of Terror ever was.
That I agree with. Every time I rode it, I wished I was on our better version. Very happy we’ve kept our version, too. It’s actually nice to have very different rides for those lucky enough to visit both properties.

Back to the topic at hand, I think the new coaster is an awesome idea. My bigger concern is that I look at it and think, “this will have a lot of down time.” Hopefully, I’m wrong on that. It looks like a ride system that would break a lot.

Ssooooo…fascinating discussion as always guys.

Back to the topic at hand. I was looking online and am seeing some interesting things that this could be the closest to an original project that Imagineering will be doing since Potter changed the game. I really hope that is true. I do miss the lands that are a conglomerate of ideas and similar concepts like the original lands were. Maybe we will get a chance here fire done originality baked into the overall design.

Concept drawings and feasibility studies are a long way away from financing being allocated for serious design and development. To @Sirwalterraleigh point it does seem like busy work. But if it was serious, what was the budget allocated to it and why was it killed?

Firsthand knowledge also means that you were directly involved in it. Were you?
So then put in engineering drawings. Disney has access to an army of engineers, designers and architects. I’m sure they have plenty of busy work for things that never see the light a day. It still doesn’t change the fact that it made it no further than a concept.
The decision to allocate financing and build a project is literally made after feasibility studies done on the Concept Design. Of course a project that didn’t make it through Feasibility was just a Concept, because that’s the process.

A Concept Design package for Disney (or even Universal) isn’t just some vague artwork and loose plans. It contains entire drawing packages for multiple disciplines that in other fields would easily satisfy as a deliverable for later phases of work.

It should shock no one that WDI wanted and designed a door coaster but someone who talks about a nondescript coaster themed to India or something ultimately squashed it. Because he was told “the theme parks are mature”.
Walt Disney Imagineering can’t just put a project into Concept Design because they want it. It’s a serious phase of design that involves significant resources and contracts with external vendors. It’s a much more structured and organized process than the popular imagination assumes.

What a day this tread has had.

Let’s move on and imagine for a moment that they have confirmed a table service restaurant for this land. What would you like to see out of it? What food do you think would be on the menu?

It’s weird how there’s this strain of not wanting any semblance of truthful and accurate information. As though all nonsense, even when deliberately posted for the purpose of degrading the discourse, is actually valid.
I’ll be honest, I appreciate truth. It’s the constant back and forth, no one backing down, worthless flexing that just gets tiresome. I know that there are some here with real inside info, and they can only ever reveal so much. And their are others that like to act like they know things like insiders do, but they are not and come off hot-headed and disingenuous.

Simply put, some of this comes down to posters not liking how other people go about posting their thoughts. And then it ends up like an old couple arguing. At that point I’m wasting my time trying to read through all of it.

That part. Anyone complaining about an insider who says they know something, but then doesn't tell when pressed, fails to realize there's certain things said insider can and cannot say. It's not like they're playing games.

First-hand knowledge, in this case, if you haven't already figured, would mean the insider is directly involved in some branch of the Disney Parks. I think there are things they CAN say if its information they aren't required to withhold, thus why insiders sometimes mention something they know about, in this case, the upcoming Villains area at Magic Kingdom, but don't mention anything else even when others press them. If an insider tells us something they're not supposed to, that puts their job at risk.

Couldn't have said it better myself.
