MK Villains Land Announced for Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom

I could've sworn the rumors of that being a thing started before 2010, around the time American Idol Experience was announced. I could be wrong, though...
It was…but out of nowhere

Also beware of “internal development”…it’s the kinda nonsense that gets chat boards all frothed and allows nothing to actually get done as we age…
It’s a snipe hunt used as distraction

If anyone head things fancon…a room full of sycophants that in no way represents the market they’re after…causes Bob to spend a dime - let alone billions in costs - then I can give you a great deal on magic beans…
Get em while they’re hot 🫘

Are you saying that as an indicator of being restricted by an IP?

Because Pueblo Esperanza is part of a larger land of Tropical Americas. And it will have at least two rides representing two different IPs. And the carousel, I'm assuming, will be a melange of IP animals from many sources.

Villains Land doesn't seem to be the free-wheeling non-IP some are making it out to be (including its Imagineers) if it's going to be based on the usual suspects of the fairy tale villains.
I'm saying I don't see much difference between the two in terms of the degree to which they are lands not based on a specific film, per the quoted X post. Tropical Americas has Pueblo Esperanza as the grounding non-IP village, with Casita and a temple in the background. Villains, as far as we can tell, will also have some sort of original non-IP town with Art Nouveau influences, with Maleficent's castle and whatever the dark ride ends up being in the background.

Define out of nowhere?
No substance…no actual management intent other than some lip service…busy work for low grade WDI with no chance…promoted by them speaking out of turn on the internet (where they should not be” and spread by low paid blue and red (in the olden days) ids on chat forums…

The usual.

That’s not what it was in the sklar days…where good ideas are rewarded. Mostly busy work and a lot of misfires since

Ah… well you would be wrong.

The monster door coaster was not “busy work” for low grade WDI.

It also came exceptionally close to reality around 2008 with far more work done than you’ll be willing to accept.

Admittedly, my first real awareness dates to around 2009, so I’m sure you guys are right. I was thinking more about DCA. That version seems to be swelling around 2012 and passed/cancelled in 2013.

Might be time to stop blaming the guy who was barely there who never really had any power…for a 20 year pattern of questionable strategy and slow decay…
I think it is just as foolish to pretend Chapek had no power as it is to pretend everything was his fault. He was not a small fry in the company before becoming CEO, and he is the one at the source of questionable things when he was. Iger deserves criticism but let’s not take away the criticism Chapek more than earned to do it. He had power as CEO, and he had power before too.

Opinions vary

But other than nonsense like magical express…he wasn’t there long enough to do anything at their pace.

One guy is in charge…the “parks head” is a puppet who takes grief.

You do the math

tbh we can debate monsters vs muppets all we want, this coaster is a huge win in every way and just happy were getting it after all this time.

also for anyone who gets this. Monsters being rumored for DHS was like The Batman 2 having release dates. just do it already!

He certainly had enough power to look at a map and randomly decide that destroying Tower of Terror at DCA would be a quick and cheap way to promote GOTG v.2 without giving any thought on the detrimental effect on the park that they had just spent 1.2 billion dollars into fixing just 5 years earlier would cause.

Mission Breakout is better than DCA’s Tower of Terror ever was.
