Trip Report Tu in ‘25

Ever just the same
Ever a surprise
Ever as before
Ever just as sure
As the sun will rise
Tu in ‘25

These lyrics came to mind when I thought about my trip reporting. (I also thought, Here we go AGAIN but the above sounds much more poignant.) It’s now that time of year when my Disney trips are frequent. And this Disney Senior loves sharing her visits with y’all because your engagement makes it fun!

Yes, there will be stuff that’s the same. Yes, there will be surprises (too soon for the reveals). And yes, there will be sun rises!

Spring break countdown is at 4 days.

Since this intro needs a picture, here are Tu.

We planned to rope drop Haunted Mansion and hurried in that direction when we heard the firework blast indicating the park was now open to all guests.

However once we saw CMs blocking the entrance we knew the ride was down and opted for the nearest walk-on attraction.

RD Small World? Woody texted after I sent him this photo.

We were on and off Pooh so quickly that we hoped to get in another attraction before early entry ended.

Dare we try Peter Pan?

We dared. Not sure what the posted wait time was when we entered but the line was moving.

I caught the sun’s morning illumination on the Tangled restrooms. So pretty!

I forgot to mention two cute conversations we overheard during early entry.

Mom to her young son: “It’s Winnie the Pooh, not Winnie the Pool!”

Another mom to her kids, as she’s reading the list of MK attractions: “We’ve got Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.”
Kids: “What’s that?”
Mom: “I don’t know, but it’s brand new.”

My last Jungle Cruise adventure with Woody was a bust. I was hoping not to sit next to the engine today and that the sound system would work so the skipper could be heard.

Em and I walked right onto that docked boat in the picture above. We got a great place to sit away from the engine and the boat was barely half-full when we pulled away from the dock.

Skipper Holly was a hoot. She began with, “We are going to have so much fun!”

Her puns were fast and furious and I cannot remember most of them. Let’s just say that this cruise more than made up for my last one!

Em and I spent a couple hours at the pool.

The sun was warm, the water was refreshing and the pool area was not crowded at all.

The only negative was the super loud music and the pool games. It’s not so much the activity we hate, but the VOLUME of the sound system, which makes it hard to read and relax. POFQ only has one pool and is the reason we no longer stay there during spring and summer, when pool time is a priority for us. The resort needs (and has space for) a quiet pool, which will never happen because POFQ guests are able to use POR’s quiet pools.

Sorry, we’re not walking 10-15 minutes to use another resort’s pool.

I had been craving Mexican food so for tonight’s dinner I booked an ADR here:

View attachment 891862

We drove to Coronado Springs and in an effort to avoid the line at the guard shack we ended up parking in the convention lot, resulting in a convoluted walk to the restaurant.

It was totally my fault and I promised Em that won’t happen again. :angelic:

Maya Grill had a lovely Dia de los Muertos display.

We were seated near the windows overlooking El Centro and Lago Dorado. While scenic, Em thinks CSR does not have a Disney feel and has no desire to stay here again. I can’t even convince her to try the tower, which I really like.

Our server was….fine. But the food was delicious and hit the spot. We shared the Chips Duo and the Chicken Fajita with a side of guacamole.

It was plenty of food for the two of us but I suspect we would have had better service had we ordered separate entrées, alcohol and dessert. 😉
S has been talking about this place since we went in '24, and it's a must for her on our next trip. I'd be lying if I said I didn't still occasionally think about the Pear margarita and Tres Leches cake I had😋

Woody and I took the picturesque path out of Pandora into Harambe. A band had the crowd dancing and we stopped briefly to watch before entering the queue for the Safari. The wait was posted at 15 minutes but it wasn’t that long.

There was beautiful sunshine and a nice cool breeze so there were lots of active animals in view. We also experienced a “giraffic jam” which was fun for those of us already in a Jeep on the savannah, but not so fun for those behind stuck behind us. (Standby wait increased to 45 minutes after our Safari.)

If you feed them, they will come! 🦒

Epcot had become quite crowded and we were ready for a break. I needed to use the restroom and we were close to the Odyssey so I used the facility there. In the stall next to me was a barefoot woman, no shoes or sandals in sight.

Perhaps she had lost her footwear on LWTL @wdisney9000? However I am confident uber-hygienic C (and the rest of us rational thinkers) would never enter a public bathroom with bare feet!!

Schitts Creek Eww GIF by CBC

The weirdness factor was now up to two: push-up man and toilet toes. As things tend to come in threes, I wondered what would be next.

My curiosity would be satisfied at the bus stop.

View attachment 900344

The WL/Ft. Wilderness gate is the furthest from the park entrance. There were a handful of guests waiting when Woody and I arrived. Soon we all noticed a couple on small ECVs, one behind the other in close proximity. Wife was on the lead scooter and Hubby appeared to be pushing her scooter with his. They were driving in the bus lane in the parking lot, not on the walkway, causing two different buses to honk at them with the drivers gesturing for them to get out of the way.

When they got to our gate Wife got off the disabled scooter and Hubby parked behind her - on the wrong side of the yellow safety line. Hubby then said something about a dead battery and began to disassemble the scooter while Wife watched. (Again on the wrong side of the safety line!)

My first thought was, why not leave the dead scooter alone and call the rental company?

Woody quietly told me it was not a rental but a personal scooter, one that looked like a second-hand purchase from an online marketplace.

Just as Hubby had the entire scooter apart the WL bus arrived. Only the bus could not pull into the gate because Hubby, Wife and scooter parts were in the way. And neither of them had a clue!

The bus driver opened the door and told the couple they had to move behind the yellow line. They did and when the bus parked Hubby frantically began to put the scooter back together. Once all passengers on the bus had disembarked, Wife (on Hubby's scooter) expected to be the first one loaded. Except when the driver opened the rear door, she informed them that it was time for her lunch break and "another bus will be by for pick up shortly."

Hubby was angry. Honestly we all were as we'd already waited nearly 30 minutes for a bus (some of that delay caused by Hubby & Wife's ignorant behavior. :cautious:) When the bus pulled away Hubby went back to reassembling the scooter - on the wrong side of the yellow line again - causing another backup with the bus flow.

Another WL bus finally arrived 10 minutes later. Wife on scooter was loaded first and Hubby pushed the reassembled scooter up the ramp and onto the bus. Then the rest of us could board.

Ft. Wilderness guests get dropped off before WL guests and Woody and I just knew there would be another delay as scooter jerk attempted to get off the bus with a disabled scooter. And there was.

Relaxing on our balcony with a cold beverage was the first thing we did upon our arrival back at the Lodge.

We passed on evening apps tonight due to a dinner reservation.

IMG_9900.jpeg

I’d read that Diamond Horseshoe was decked out for the holidays like last year. Em and I had enjoyed our experience in December ‘24, despite being two at a table for six. Most tables in the restaurant seat 6-8. Woody and I also sat at a large table but we were center stage surrounded by the festive decorations and I didn’t mind it as much this year.

IMG_9901.jpeg

IMG_9902.jpeg

Our server was great (we’ve always had good service here) and comfort food was exactly what my still-under-the-weather self needed. I did not ask the server to withhold the pork (Woody likes it) and we were surprised to see the pork replaced by smoked honey ham, which was very good.

IMG_9903.jpeg

Another change was that dessert arrived on small plates. Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake is typically served in a skillet. Of course it could have been a temporary situation if the kitchen (which DH shares with LTT) happened to be out of skillets. I guess I’ll find out if this is a permanent change later this month.😉

IMG_9904.jpeg

Happily (but not uncomfortably) full, we ventured next door for our favorite stage show.

We avoided the Starlight crowds on Main Street by taking the bypass. We also did our good deed of the day by helping a confused elderly couple navigate their way out of the park and guided them to the monorail.

Woody and I made it to the Old Faithful Club observation deck in time to watch Happily Ever After. While not the best view, it was the most convenient.

Woody and I were awakened around 1 am by loud rhythmic noises - Woody said it sounded like a compressor shooting nails into concrete. The noise continued for awhile and it was nearly an hour before we could fall back to sleep.

I was hoping workers were installing the holiday stuff (which had kept me from becoming very angry in the wee hours) but when we went to breakfast the resort still looked like this….

1767704360469.png

….which definitely did not help my mood.

So what was the noise? We’ll never know. And from prior experience we’ve learned that Cast Members aren’t forthcoming with any information. During a stay in 2017 Woody and I had a room on the floor directly above Artist Point, when it was being refurbished into Storybook Dining. If you’ve eaten there, you are familiar with the “forest theme”. All those trees were secured into the ceiling by LOUD construction, which happened in the afternoon during prime nap time. We let it slide the first day but on the second day I recorded the noise on my phone and went to the Front Desk.

Guess what? No one believed me. So I convinced two managers and the CM I originally spoke with to come to our room. They were flabbergasted by the noise, but would not comment on its cause. We were offered a new room and we moved.

Then last summer I was awakened very early by what sounded like heavy furniture being moved in the room above us. (There was room refurbishment going on at the time.) A visit to the Front Desk elicited no concern so I returned to our room and stayed awake until it was time to start the day. (Woody managed to sleep through the noise.)

I’ll admit to pouting as I ate my oatmeal overlooking the non-transformed lobby. Then a text from Em made me laugh out loud.

IMG_9930.jpeg

That’s Poly drinking and Kona waiting his turn.

Woody and I were headed to Hollywood this morning. As we walked through the lobby a CM greeted us. She happened to be a manager who asked about our stay. I mentioned the no hot water incident from yesterday morning and the awful noise that woke us today.

She was extremely apologetic and put a $200 credit on our account.

That’s what good customer service looks like, All Star Sports Front Desk Manager. ;)

The bus got us to DHS in time for early entry. As we made our way down Hollywood Blvd., Woody noted that the Minnie Rockettes were actually kicking today (they were stationary the other night.)

IMG_9932.jpeg

He wanted to ride MMRR first. The CM at the entrance noticed Woody’s tee and proclaimed with a flourish, “Welcome sir, to the Great MIckey Ride!”

IMG_9933.jpeg

Love the Dapper Dogs! (Do you see them?)

IMG_9934.jpeg

Woody’s next request was for an attraction he hadn’t seen in several years. On the way we overheard a thirty-something tell her son, “We’re going to ride the Millennial Falcon!”

Woody commented, “Yeah - it kinda is.” :hilarious:

We passed this holiday display just before reaching our destination.

Star Tours??!!

Tu doesn’t do motion simulators. But the medication I took must have made me loopy, because not only did I agree to walk the queue with Woody, I did not walk through the StarSpeeder but sat down next to Woody and buckled myself in!

Pop Tv Wow GIF by Schitt's Creek

We sat dead-center front row and I thought I could handle it. And I did ok at the start. But soon I had to close my eyes to avoid ruining the rest of my day.

Woody was very appreciative of my sacrifice.
