DAK 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

Personally, I'm perfectly fine with the Encanto being in Tropical Americas, Encanto does have pretty good potential for a ride and seeing as AK really does need a family friendly indoor attraction and Encanto would do a good job at filling in that void, I'll take it.
Agreed on the metrics, it just needs to actually be good.

Its show building is far larger than Mystic Manor. If it is able to execute on story in the same way, and not say TBA or FEA, then it will legitimately be a terrific addition.

Not my first choice, I’d rather go without an IP, but it will serve a purpose.

Indy to me is what has the potential to really reshape the park.

To be fair, TBA and FEA were reskins forced into existing attractions. A better comparison might be MK’s Ariel. Let’s hope we get a better dark ride than that. I’d argue MMRR is the level we should hope for, although some don’t care for that either. 🤷‍♂️

Encanto would not really fit Adventureland either... Maybe a South America pavilion at EPCOT.... or DHS... the new random IP dumping ground....
Yeah I agree, I don't think Encanto would fit Adventureland that well, and plus they probably would have to get rid of Jungle Cruise for it, which idk if Disney wants to really demo Jungle Cruise in the first place, maybe retheme it worse case, but probably not demo it

A Colombia pavilion at EPCOT would've worked and the space is there with the expansion plot between the China and Germany pavilions, the issue with that is 1. Assuming that the Encanto ride we're getting does keep the design of the showbuilding (with modifications of the layout since idk if there is space for the showbuilding to fit there), there is going to be a massive issue with trying to hide the showbuilding. The showbuilding will be "hidden" by mountains placed on top of the ride and making the exterior look like a rainforest (see the image below). But if it they put it there in World Showcase, how would they really even hide it assuming they don't change the plot of the ride so that it doesn't need that tall of a showbuilding?

I don't think DHS works either as the goal of that park is to immerse yourself into the films, and eh, Encanto wouldn't bee my first pick for it to go to DHS.

They couldn't even make the Zootopia show a good fit, what makes you think they'll do it with Encanto?

According to the ride summary that we were given, it does imply that Antonio's animals will be throughout the ride, and if I really had to guess what the specific plot of the ride will be, I'm guessing it will be about us being late to the party for Antonio's birthday and his animals have run amuck throughout the Casita, so we have to go all throughout the house to coral all his animal back into his room while we go throughout the Casita and meet the various members of the family (oh and Bruno's there I guess), at the end we get to his room and meet the entire family and that's that.

So if we go with that, they it's not the strongest message with animals unless we learn about their behaviours in the ride, but it sounds better than what they did with Zootopia: Better Zoogether, where there really isn't unless we count the characters being, well, animals

MMRR is really not that good in the grand scheme of things, the sets are far too flat, spaces too open. I like many of its aspects, and it’s fun especially at Disneyland, but it is not Splash-level, despite it taking up a ridiculous amount of space. I really hope it’s more like Mystic Manor in design or a longer Pooh’s Hunny Hunt than MMRR.

To me, the execution of FEA could be far better once you get up the lift hill, and TBA also could’ve been executed better, with the Laughing Place being the most notable flop. I really don’t think it was about space but execution honestly, same with Mermaid where it was just poorly conceived.

Encanto would be fine in Adventureland or something. It doesn't belong in Animal Kingdom and I doubt they're gonna make it fit in Animal Kingdom.

I’d put a Moana, Lilo and Stitch, or Aladdin ride in Adventureland, or in Aladdin’s case EPCOT at this point.

Lion King in AK.

The Incredibles and Inside Out badly need something too.

All multi-billion dollar franchises, all beloved.

I expect the attraction will mostly focus on the various members of the family (if not just a straight-up book report or a "takes place after (or in this case before) the movie but still rehashes it" ride). I have little faith in them making it fit Animal Kingdom.

I mean, you could have a Snow White ride that focuses on her animal friends, but it'd be weird to build a ride based on a beloved animated film but starring minor characters from it over Snow White, the Dwarves, etc. and I think Disney knows that.

How is this still your take when the official summary is decidedly not this? We obviously can't know if things will change during development, but they've said it takes place neither before nor after the story. It takes place during the first act of the movie.

... So why do you keep saying it takes place before or after the movie? You just keep saying things that don't align with anything that's been announced thus far. I'll never understand the need to spread falsehoods over hundreds of pages despite being corrected over and over again when you don't even need to be dishonest in order to complain.

Disney knows what modern parkgoers want in an Encanto ride. It's Mirabel and Luisa and "WE DON'T TALK ABOUT BRUNO NO NO NO", not Antonio talking to us about jaguars and toucans. It takes place DURING the first act of the movie, and very little of that first act has to do with animals.
Except we don’t talk about Bruno occurs the day after, so it shouldn’t be a scene in the ride.

It's the most popular song in the movie, no way they're not gonna have it in the attaction, its placement in the movie be darned.

Look at how they shoehorned "Let It Go" into Frozen Ever After even though it takes place after the movie.
Would it be a problem if they found a way to work that song into the ride somewhere with everything else they've revealed about the ride being true? Your example from FEA shows that they can do that without it having to literally occur in the ride at the same point in the Encanto universe timeline as in the movie.

at the end of the day at least the Encanto character will be about animals. same w indy. And don't forget these rides are in a weird was separated from the village non-IP main area of TA. Plus truth is AK needs IP, as all it has is Avatar and the LK show. Ak needs more rides. And I do feel overall this is good for the park. Plus out of all the IP's, I think I'll take Encanto anyday for AK. Esp over Moana and Zootopia. As there's very few Ip's that even kinda work, so I'll take the kinda work ones like Indy and Encanto. instead of the don't work zootopia and moana (they work, just not for AK, think they should be at MK, and DHS respectively.) But it's a big fam dark ride and a new indy ride. How bad can it be. plus what other IP's would you rather have in this park?

I have no faith in them doing that in a natural way.

See also Frozen Ever After, which takes place after the movie and yet has Elsa in her ice palace re-enacting the "Let It Go" scene for seemingly no reason.

.. Maybe a South America pavilion at EPCOT....
What a novel idea. I would personally be against it because of my feeling about turning World Showcase into IP Showcase but of course I already have lost that battle several times now and if it can actually finally bring in a new pavilion for the first time since before I was born. I am all for it.

Well, there you go: that allows them to thread that needle in an organic manner.

I think we will get one very cool pre-show Ala Hondo or B&TB from Tokyo or Symbolica. Namely the door ceremony is the natural inflection point of why we’re all coming into the house in the first place, gathered on the floor and looking upwards to the second level where the animatronics are. Projection mapping in the room, house effects. Could be spectacular.
