Now, food from the feast at Mom and Pops on Christmas Eve…!!! :)

4 full racks of pork ribs fixin’ to be taken outta’ the smoker…fall-off-the-bone crazy-delicious…!!!!!!! :joyfull::hungry:

IMG_5161.jpeg

Deviled eggs are always fair game, even before the main meal…!!!!! :cautious::cool::hilarious::hungry:

IMG_5157.jpeg

A pan of spicy boudin sausage, as our ‘lil sis’ husband is Cajun and they live in Lafayette, LA, so they brought some along from their favorite place…!!!!! :hungry:

IMG_5214.jpeg

The rest of my buffet/serving island pics were taken well after the meal started, so some dishes may look a little…..sparse…!!!!! :cyclops::hilarious:

Honey ham with cloves, made by SonIL as per late MILs recipe, and what’s left of the first 2 racks of pork ribs (you can see how many bones are left in the pan ‘cause “fall-off-the-bone” ;))…!!!!! :hungry:

IMG_5216.jpeg

Fruit salad, potato casserole, broccoli salad, pasta salad and peel-and-eat shrimp…!!!!! :hungry:

IMG_5218.jpeg

Deviled eggs, what’s left of the shells and cheese, glazed carrots and a kale and sweet potato salad…!!!!! :hungry:

IMG_5221.jpeg

At the back, on the cake plate, is what’s left of a garlic bread pull (basically, a bread version of a Bloomin’ Onion) and in front of that is a dish one of our nieces made which is, essentially, a savory “cinnamon” roll, made with roasted red peppers, cheese, garlic and a few other ingredients I can’t remember. I also can’t remember what was in the bowl with the orange lid. 🤔🤷‍♂️;)
Also, not pictured is a pot of beans and a pan of pork sausage on the stove.
Either way, everything I ate was absolutely delicious…!!!!! :hungry:

IMG_5223.jpeg

And, as we all know, ya’ can’t have a huge feast without dessert, and, since all 26 of us were there, we had ‘em out the wazoo…!!!!!!!!!!! :joyfull::hilarious::hungry:

IMG_5259.jpeg

My plate of pork ribs, a deviled egg, ham, shrimp with cocktail sauce, boudin, kale and sweet potato salad, shells and cheese, glazed carrots and potato casserole (I ended up goin’ back for more pork ribs from a freshly cut rack and more shrimp 😁;))…!!!!! :hungry:

IMG_5203.jpeg

And finally, my dessert plate of homemade pecan pie and homemade strudel from our family recipe…!!!!! :hungry:

Some white elephant gift exchange fun up next…!!! :)

We DID it. We had fun playing Pickleball! View attachment 899129
Did you not play pickleball in high school gym class? We had a whole unit on it. We played it for WEEKS. I even remember who my partner was. We were divided into 2s and had a weeks long tournament where we had to play every other team of two. I know we didn't come in last, so yay for me....I'm not very coordinated with sports.

My Christmas presents...well the ones I didn't have to buy myself. E thought it was stupid for me to have to buy all my own presents, so she went shopping so I would have at least SOMETHING to open that I didn't know what it was. She made the earrings herself. The Wicked book is a pocket journal.88e63e51-2a12-4029-926a-342c7dbab557.jpg8125e89a-fd14-44be-88c3-6b82076c152d.jpge7c154d1-50cf-4646-914d-e319d0531eba.jpgdea1cb34-eabf-4faa-ba6f-183b3106ad70.jpg

And she made this for A:

We never played pickle ball. Did assorted track events, archery, flag football, baseball, weight lifting, basketball and soccer one year. We were mixed grades(9-10 and 11- 12) and gender and grouped by physical fitness testing. Picture me playing basketball with people 6 foot tall, I got them back during distance events

Never even heard of Pickleball until 5 or 6 years ago. Merry Christmas.

I never did pickleball in gym class either. We did racquetball, tennis, and badminton. The phy ed teacher at the school I teach at does a pickleball unit and she hates it. Our town just renovated our tennis courts into pickleball courts and it is popular.
I am too old now for tennis. Too much ground to cover. Pickleball's smaller court is helpful .

I'd just be happy to know how the hell it got the name Pickleball. It seems so random and I cannot connect it to anything in the game as far as I can tell. It's just now starting to get popular around here. It seems to have taken over from shuffleboard for older folks that are still able to bend at their collective joints without tipping over. It might be even stronger if it had a less ridiculous name. ;)

When my over 55 apartment building opened, about 10 years ago, it had (and still does) a shuffleboard area and equipment. I moved in here pushing 6 years ago, I have only seen one small group of kids playing it or at least attempting too and that was last month. I asked around to some of the older tenants and they all said that they never have seen anyone playing it. My apartment is only about 20 feet from the start of the board so I would hear it clearly if someone was out there.

And, now for some white elephant gift exchange fun from Mom and Pops on Christmas Eve…!!! :)

Explaining and establishing the ground rules…very important ;)…if you get a gift off the table, it can be stolen only 2 times after that, and then it’s frozen…!!! :geek:

IMG_5293.jpeg

But, before we began, Emmy and Audrey got some consolation gifts, as they’re, obviously, a bit too young to participate in the adult silliness…!!! ;)

IMG_5318.jpeg

Youngest bro (Larry - named after Pop, although they have different middle names, so he’s not a “Junior”) was the first victim, although I can’t remember what he got…?! 🤔🤷‍♂️

IMG_5326.jpeg

One of our nieces got a Buc-ee’s bag…it was a Buc-ee’s reusable bag that came inside a gift bag that had a Buc-ee’s plush, regular Beaver Nuggets, Cinnamon Beaver Nuggets, dark chocolate caramel sea salt chews and a box of Buc-ee’s band-aids…!!! :geek:

IMG_5345.jpeg

Another one of our nieces picked a box that had a Cajun cookbook and a “WHO’S YOUR CRAW DADDY?” chefs apron in it…!!!!! :hilarious:

IMG_5348.jpegIMG_5355.jpeg

A little back and forth fun…!!! :)

IMG_5370.jpeg

The niece that had the cookbook and apron got them stolen from her, but then ended up with this sweater…!!!!! :hilarious:

IMG_5387.jpeg

Carolyn ended up with the Buc-ee’s bag, and I, after picking off the table, ended up stuck with what’s below that, and, of course, nobody else wanted it…!!!!! 🤪🤣

IMG_5407.jpegIMG_5396.jpeg

On a side note…
Pee Boy will be disguised in a larger box, and “re-white elephanted” next year…!!! 😁😉
Also, there is a running joke white elephant gift that has been around for about 20 years.
Shortly after our ‘lil sis and her ex-husband moved to Louisiana they visited for Christmas.
One of the white elephant gifts they brought with them was a DVD copy of a 1959 movie called “The Louisiana Hussy”…!!!!! 😂
If you get stuck with it, tradition has it that you are NEVER allowed to take off the original wrapper and it must be returned to the next Christmas white elephant exchange…!!!!! :hilarious:

Well, lucky for y’all, that’s all I got to say about that…!!! ;):)
I hope y’all all had as great a Christmas as our family did, and that y’all all have the happiest New Year…!!!!!:)
