EPCOT Figment, well, to be replaced by Figment

You honestly ‘do not’ wanna match anything seen in the 02-current ride. That iteration should be totally barred from being used for any inspiration in future media featuring the characters going forward, knowing Tony’s thoughts/feelings on it, not to mention the majority of guests (myself included) for 23 years now. It’s ‘not’ good or up to snuff, period. It’s more a Honey, I Shrunk themed ride than an Imagination or Figment ride despite its misleading title & sign description outside. And that is a ‘huge’ problem as clearly evidenced in my earlier posts.
I would actually argue as much as it sucked, JIYI at least had an aesthetic and tone it was going for independent of the original version for better or worse. JIIwF is just a cynical attempt to try to shove in elements from the first onto the framework of the second in a half-hearted way to unsuccessfully get Figment fans to shut up.

They just need to go back to the DreamPort... the ride no longer feels like it is aboout imagination... The thing that worked so beautifully about the first iteration was the entire premise...the introduction of the characters and the setup for further adventures in the Dreamport... now it is a silly ride and then you go on to the next pavilion or watch an unrelated cartoon...
With the Subject Matter being "Imagination" it should be the most amazingly popular, jaw-droppingly fantastic pavilion in the park... It should be WDW's Magnum Opus... They already have the characters fleshed out...It has been so long that most of the world forgets the original version... Time to go back and really create something amazing again...based on the Dream Port.... A garden Of Imagination surrounding the pavilion....filled with smaller attractions and beautiful things to see. A new show about and featuring the hosts of the pavilion.... Make the entire pavilion a spectacular Steam-Punk Fantasy of kinetic gears and flywheels and things in motion.... It should be the "Fantasyland " of Epcot...not just a pavilion but an expanded land....

It makes even less sense since HISTA left nearly fifteen years ago.

Yeeeah no, def not on board with that, as much as I love the guy. A creative consultant or story man maybe, as he is a fan of the original ride. But Josh’s vocal qualities & personality, respectfully, doesn’t fit either of those 2 characters. It’d have to be folks cast who can really match Chuck McCann & Billy Barty’s vocal qualities & energy in the original ride near perfectly if a movie and/or show were to be made. Maybe he could make an appearance as an incidental character or a character they meet in their journey/on one of their journeys? I’d be on board with that
I'm fine with the person that did the voice in Disney Speedstorm honestly.

That’s fair. I also loved the fact he was finally in a video game and that his outfit and some of the car options have references to the original attraction there, anytime I play he’s my main and I enjoy every bit of it. Though as much as I think A.J.’s a great VA and honestly think he does a fabulous Henry in the Country Bear Musical Jamboree. He really captures Peter Renaday’s cadence and performance quality well. Unfortunately, I don’t think he quite hit the mark with Figment in Speedstorm, but I know he’s a fan that genuinely cares & was really thrilled to have gotten the opportunity. It should have a bit more gravel and be higher pitched, also Billy has a unique way of enunciating his words, but admittedly, it’s a hard voice to mimic/pull off. Corey Burton is the closest I’ve heard to getting it right on, so far. Even Billy’s I’ve read from Tony Baxter, was sped up a little bit. Not a bunch, but a little bit to give it a slightly higher pitch. But it depended on the day. Billy was usually able to get it in the intended range though. But still, I think the fairest thing to do in this scenario, if you’re gonna find the best new voice for the character. Hold another audition, bring back Corey, Dave, and A.J.. and let anyone else audition for the part. The casting director should tell them Billy Barty played the character originally, play some samples of Billy’s voice as a reference point and the character description should match the way he’s portrayed in the original ride. Give them pieces of dialogue in the original ride and ImageWorks made from ‘83-98 and let them give ‘em what they’ve got. If you need to pitch em up a bit to see if they sound better, that’s fine and dandy too. But again, I think the best should be chosen that way. Fairest way to do it. That way former VAs who did him don’t feel like they’ve been screwed out of coming back to do him. Especially if they never intended to retire or retire from doing the character.

And like, Dave should have a chance to redeem himself. As his intent at first was to sound like Billy Barty upon being told that initially. But the casting/voice director told him, “Don’t try to sound like Billy Barty, come up with your own voice for the character” and it’s like.. really? This is a popular/beloved character you’re bringing back. Why on earth would you tell him that. So that’s another reason why the voice doesn’t sound like Billy Barty’s original portrayal

Keep in mind, Dave is 79 years old. The voices he does for The Muppets are getting rough (Waldorf and Gonzo being the standouts), so I doubt they'd have him do Figment's voice for any V4. They'd probably just have AJ or even Gad do the voice.

Same reason why they cast David Tennant as Scrooge McDuck in the DuckTales reboot even though he doesn't sound anything like Alan Young?

I never had the opportunity to ride the original version. From all I’ve heard about it on here it sounds like it was incredible.

To me, this seems like such an easy slam dunk to redo this ride and include the Dreamfinder. I mean, there is no way they redo this attraction and not have Figment. It is not a synergystic IP across platforms; but, the character is prominent during one of the festivals at Epcot, it definitely moves merchandise, and the character (I feel) is appreciated beyond just the horde of diehard fans.

At this point, I am assuming that Josh is going to be the next CEO. Having risen in the ranks in the parks, I would hope that he pushes for this for Epcot’s 50th. And the business team should be appeased because if done properly, this will definitely be a lightning lane opportunity. This could be a lightning lane profit center, a merchandise mover and a fun family ride.

I hear ya, and obv we're just spitballing and thinking things that prob will never happen. But I wouldn't put it past Gad to come up with a great Figment voice, were that to ever happen. It may not be the exact one we think of, but that also doesn't mean it would be bad. But again, it's all just imagination at this point.

Also, Dreamfinder is supposed to be our all knowing guide, not Figment.

It seems that there's more Figment merch coming out every single day (through today per the site that shant be named)

The more merch, the more confused I get.

Fair enough but the fact he’s still performing Gonzo & Waldorf to this day should say alot.), and in all honesty, I don’t think those performances sound bad. It’s a little deeper than it originally was, but that’s nothing a little pitch shifting couldn’t fix from time to time, in regards to the Muppets atleast

I've been reflecting on whether to share this...a few nights ago I had a dream that turned into a nightmare.

For almost 30 years I've had recurring dreams (a few times a year as i can remember) of old future world pavilions coming back (or being restored to original forms)

The dream opened with them announcing they replaced the awful Imagination 3.0 with a new "Imagination with Dreamfinder"

But when I entered the pavilion, it was set up just like the Animation Academy immediately before Launch Bay (almost like a college lecture hall).

In walks in a very skinny teen-early-20-something dressed like Dreamfinder leading everyone in an "Imagination Assessment"

Everyone's work was instantly evaluated as it was on the old Millionaire attraction.

Then "Dreamfinder" said "Let's now see who's Imagination needs work"

Then it showed me on the monitor like they do to mortify a single guest on Laugh Floor.

(Nb That's the main reason why I only went to Laugh Floor once lol.)

And Figment was nowhere in sight.

Yup, that’d be absolutely horrendous. A nightmare indeed.
