Plus, a fun question that I'll turn over to the whole thread for anyone who wants to answer!

Favorite physical media/home video release(s)?
ha!

In that regard, gonna have to give it to the Walt Disney Treasures DVDs; I'd even say they were a major factor in why I became such a big Disney fan, both for the (for the most part) very solid selection of animated shorts or TV episodes and the bonuses contextualizing them within their place in Disney history. My favorite Treasures sets or sub-series' are...
  • The Complete Goofy
  • The Adventures of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit
  • Mickey Mouse in Black and White (both volumes)
  • The Chronological Donald (if pressed to pick a single favorite of this sub-series, it'd be volume four [for having both a strong shorts selection and the best visual quality; the CinemaScope cartoons on disc two look amazing], but I'd have to say the other three volumes all have at least a few great shorts and/or bonus features to make their case)
  • Mickey Mouse in Living Color (the first volume specifically; so many greats on that one)
  • Walt Disney on the Front Lines
  • Disney Rarities: Celebrated Shorts (even if the substandard quality sullies them a bit, this is a great collection of oft-overlooked one [or two]-off cartoons)
  • Disneyland: Secrets, Stories & Magic (probably my favorite of the theme park-centric sets, mainly for the People and Places featurette on disc one and the selection of anthology series episodes on disc two)
Such a shame they were only limited to an arbitrary number of copies...they really were some of the best things Disney had to offer in the 2000s, certainly more than the barrage of "cheapquels" making up a large portion of their brand by then!

Man, I miss movie commentaries. I guess they’re not really a thing anymore? I haven’t seen one in a long time.

Projects like these are huge accomplishments, thousands of people pouring thousands of hours and years of their lives, into every detail. It’s crazy to me that nowadays, some movies just get dropped onto streaming without any fanfare, and forgotten two hours later :/ even if most straight to streaming projects are “mid”, I’d love to hear more about their inner workings, because the people who worked on them did care - on some level - to pour so much into them. I hope commentaries make a comeback!

@Disgruntled Walt I'm so happy you're playing the One Sentence comp again!! Maybe, if you have the time, you can join us for Citrus Dreamin đź‘€
I would love to do this, but I'm going to be SO busy come January, I just don't think I can realistically commit. I am a teacher and will be planning/leading two separate student retreats during that month. Until I run screaming from the education profession (which could honestly happen), I think summers are going to be the only time I can do full-scale competitions, aside from the 1SC.

If you change your mind, you could give your students the prompts as homework and have them do the imagineering for you!

Jokes aside, take care! I know how stressful of a job that can be lol

The One Sentence Competition just posted its second prompt!

How would you wrap these bygone songs to make better and newer ones?

I bring unfortunate news to you all. Imagineer Eddie Soto, one of the lead designers of Disneyland Paris, has passed away. I may not have been to a lot of places he designed but from what I have seen, they all look spectacular and stunning. May he Rest in Peace and I’m sure Walt Disney will be there to greet him at the pearly gates. RIP.
